Brains Behind the popular TV Soap - US

Tonye Olawoto (Chief Agaba)
Tonye is playing Chief Agaba, the lead role. Relatively known in the industry, Tonye has a superb delivery of lines and will no doubt dazzle movie freaks in any other movie.

- Edmund Enaibe (papa Doctor)
Edmund is reputed to be one of the best actors in the rested soap opera “After The Storm” where he played Chike, the village teacher. His near comedic use of language has endeared him to the hearts of television viewers. He has also featured in the Vicks Blue Television advert.

- Chinyere Winifred (Mama Doctor)
She is one of the pioneers of Nollywood. Her role in the movie ‘Taboo’ still remains evergreen in the memory of TV analysts. Chinyere has stared in uncountable movies including the award winning superstory.

- Rykardo Agbo (Oche)This university of Calabar Mass Communication graduate has proved beyond every reasonable doubt that lead roles will be his limit in any future movies.

The ‘problem child’ star is giving his best in this soap.

- Nkiru Njoku (Ego)
The dread locked actress plays her wicked roles with her superlative performance.

- Perdita Agu (Ada)
Though still an undergraduate of the University of Abuja, the Imo State born Perdita Agu is a force to reckon with in movie circles. Already, she has made it to the bill boards with the magi cube advert.

Brains behind popular TV soap ‘US’

The thought provocating Television Soap Opera ‘US’ relayed every Wednesday at 8.00pm by The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) network programme hit the air waves by the last quarter of year 2005 and has carved a peculiar niche in the hearts of over 40 million viewers.

The soap is the brain child of Vicky Amede, The Script writer and producer; a graduate of Theatre Arts, from University of Jos. She recently disclosed in an interview that she weaved the plot around the nouveau rich and the lowest income class in order to strike a balance.

According to her, “inside every mansion, there must be a boys” quarter for the poor who eventually renders important services to the priviledged rich.

The Benue born producer explained Themes Explored in, the soap which include marital problems, lust, pain, poverty etc. Tonye Olawola, Edward Enaibe, Juchiet Ibe, Chinyere Winifred Rykardo Agbo, Perdita Agu Nkine Njoku and Gloria Mba are some of the prominent Artistes in the set of ‘US’.

Vicky Amede who has produced popular soaps such as the rested ‘Ripples’ and Broad street, disclosed that the major challenge facing her career as a producer is cash constraints, adding that with proper funding, the sky will be her limit. She appealed to Government and corporate bodies to come to their aid and sponsor the soap.

‘US’ is directed by Daniel Akinsola with Owolabi Adewale and Ugochukwu Onwugbolu as production Assistants. The soap will run on the network service for the rest of the year.

Ive heard about this soap and the reviews have been quite good. Has anyone seen it and how good is it really?
Is it the best Naija soap on at the moment or just another half-baked series?
Abeg, someone in Naija should gist us.
