Apparently, it doesn't contain hydroquinone anymore. (I'm talking of the early to mid-'90s. U know say I don old now). Anyway, that's what I've been told; don't know how true it is.
But check it out, since you're a user, if it truly doesn't contain hydroquinone and/or mercury, then it's just a normal cream and shouldn't have any 'bleachious' effects on your skin.
It's just like that Fashion Fair cream (forgotten the name), it used to contain hydroquinone and bleached something terrible but after anything more than 2% hydroquinone was deemed harmful to the skin, they reduced the content or removed it altogether. I think it's the same thing for Visible Difference.

Has anyone taken time to ask why all the dark-skinned ladies are ecceptionally pretty unlike the light ones?
A lot has been discussed about skin colour issue but I can't ignore what i see on homevideos. I find it disgusting that a dark-skinned woman must be very pretty to be able to have success in the movie industry, while the yellow ones are picked even if they are "wowo".
Examples are Oge Okoye, Rita Dominic, Nkiru Sylvanus, etc... just to mention a few. To me these women are far from being pretty but yet they are compared to real beauties like Gene, Chioma, Uche, Bimbo, etc...
Of course we also have light-skinned goddess like Omosexy and SDA but they are ecceptions in this case.
Why is Nollywood so colour conscious?
|
I have wondered about that myself, the bolded. Someone mentioned easier lighting being the reason. My thought is if they can light Genny, Ini, Choima, etc they can light others. I don't have a problem with fanta leading ladies, but let them be beautiful as well as talented too instead of just picking them because of color.
And please get rid of those with the horrible, visible size effect especially on their faces. It just looks horrible on screen and they not only look ugly, but sort of sick. It is just horrific to watch, ones starts mentally re-arranging their faces or coloring instead of watching their acting.
If Rita used to be a dark lady, then if you are going to bleach, one should do it like her. It is very well done.

I also know people that their skin 'takes' to bleaching more than others especially if they have 'fair' genes in their family. I know a friend whose parents and siblings are as fair as MonaLisa; she's the only dark-skinned one. She started lightening her skin with Visible Difference + Baby lotion and over a period of time succeeded in looking like the rest of her family. Does that didn't know her before could never be convinced that 'she dey rub cream' but she knew, I knew and her siblings knew.
|
Did she use the cream all over her body?
I don't think because you have lightskinned people in your family will help you bleach better... What has that got to do with the length of a piece of string?
One thing that bleachers can never get away from is the black knuckles (and dark lips) I dont see that with Rita

As I have said that "but" is important to understand the ideas I want to communicate. In Nollywood you can be yes dark-skinned but you have to be very pretty (just take a look at the top dark-skinned actresses), while the counter part can be simply light skinned without any special physical apperance.

As for the bossom friend she looks dark. Thelma no light skin at all. Her dark skin may not be has dark has Mercy Johnson's but Thelma is certainly not light skin ra ra.
I'm having such a difficult time believing Rita was dark skin back in this days. Person wey bleach like Samira said, should have dark Knuckles abi?
I would say is genetic maybe her true skin color is coming out now because they babe looks naturally light to me.

Let me take you back to the topic at hand. So what are your views on Viince's question below:

So would you also say that male actors are cast based on their skin tone or theirs is different. My own view is that it doesnt apply in either case of male or female actors..most of them are cast based on their popularity at the time, looks and sometimes talent, but rarely on the basis of their complexion.
