Image Quality: Music videos vs Home Movie

Just watched some recent Nigerian music videos and wondered why they are of much better quality than our home movies picture-wise? Could it be that there are more quality-oriented producers in the music industry than there are in the movies?

Hmm, could be true. But I've come across more good picture quality music vids than sub-par ones, unlike in the movies where we still see many distorted images and shaky camera angles.

The music video quailty is way way higher than that of the movies, could be because of the SA connection thing. I keep wondering, does that mean good videos can be shot here. Afterall, Ty Bello,s Green Land, Gino's No be God and co were shot here.

Question

I have noticed that,too.
The creative dept. in the music videomaking industry is much more freer than that of nollywood,so creative minds have all the artistic license they need to create great quality imagery for the music videos.
Don't expect such a freedom from nollywood for a while yet.The support is still not there.

Much more creativity freedom for the music videomakers is the reason for the much better imagery in naija music videos.

You are right. Most of the musicians want the best video and the berth of Mtv base has also helped as they all know that only quality videos get on mtv hence they go out of their way spending alot and acquiring the services of a proffesional director. It is not the same with nollywood which is ego driven and the sole aim is making money.

Ask yourself how much it cost to shoot a music video as opposed to a full length film.

Well, in a business sense, wider/bigger audience should command bigger profits, hence worth quality investment, don't you think? Moreover, quality production is more about excellent craftsmanship.
