The Music From Nollywood Films
Every now and again when I am watching a film I come across a song I like. Can the music from these films ever be found anywhere on CD? For instance I was watching REVELATION BAD OMEN and this song kept playing, and I swear I have heard music from this same person in other films the voice is just the same. This particular song goes:
"IF I could turn it around, turn back the hand of time,
how could I be blind that I could not see it coming, how could not hear, could not hear the voice of warning, don't forsake me now..."
Please help me o!

That's another avenue Nollywood could really make some profits from....soundtracks to their movies!
Like Mr. Tade Ogidan did with Madam Dearest/Aya mi Owon

This is one of the things I love about Nigerian movies - the background music - when it does not drown out the dialogue in the movie. I have been trying to get the music to Abuja Connection, with no success, for many years. Mike Inliam is the artist, and he is very, very good. They are losing money by not tapping this source.
A director who has branded himself with the background music to his movies is Ernest Obi, a very good director and actor. I have heard the same song in most of his movies, and it catches your attention. Emem Isong also does the same thing. Smart and creative move.

There are only a few of the tunes that i can say i really liked...
Power of Love Tune cant remember the name but it was good (Classic....Loved it)
Black Sister/Tiger Eye something about Things people Do for Love... its okay but it became annoying when they kept saying the damn thing over and over again.
I remember Nollywood used to be in love with Kenny G during the Glamour Girls days but im glad their not using him again...but abeg the repetition of the song is annoying they should just record a soundtrack instead of just one song!
As per getting them on CD not sure if they are actual tunes out for public consumption... I can imagine driving to work listening to a 4minute track that repeats over and over again i'd probably just switch the damn thing off... I think Nadia's song for her movie is refreshing and different will probably cop it if it came out on CD

They should list the songs along with the name of musician on the credits.

Some of the songs might be okay bit some of them are really wack. In fact, some of them will sing the whole synopsis of the song right from the beginning, so you already know the whole story.
Now thats simply silly. Imagine hearing this at the beginning of a film that is still to run for 3 hours:
'If I had only known
That life is hard
To love a man
That will break my heart
After all we've been thru
I will never love again
Because your one best friend
Can never be trusted
And she will double cross you
Now puhlease.....

wow... y'all really love the music?
hmmm.... have to say i'm surprised. of all the wack elements in Nollywood homevies, the music is probably the most consistently irritating for me.
there are many times i've thought that the quality of a movie would have been exponentially improved if they had left out the music altogether.
once in a while, i'll see a movie that i think actually has the potential to be really good, but that tacky, tinny, rinky-dink Casio music with its over-literal lyrics ("Jealousy... is not good o! Why do you want to take another man's wife o?")... it just cheapens the whole thing and makes everything a little cheesier.
different strokes, sha...

some of them are quite catchy and the particular song I mentioned I've heard the same artist in other films and they have this melancholy sound that I like... Plus when you got a film with a catchy song it can have you singing that song months later like in Market Sellers,
"Her name is Angelica/ and she's a market seller..."
Holy Man, there was this song that they kept singing the name Amandaneze over and over...
The best music was in Royal Family though, it was a beautiful tune.

Bad boy from bad home....
Parents train ya children well!!!
So I knew what the film was about before I had even watched 5 mins! Infantile crap!
