Sweating in African Home Movies!
Honestly, this is becoming a national embarrassment when watching our films. It's sometimes painful when you see some actors sweating like 'mad dogs' in their costumes, even when filming outside scenes.
I'm not being bias here but it seems to me that this mostly occurs in the EMG 'homvies' than the YMG 'homvies'.
What do you think can be done to reduce this dilemma?

i actually like the sweating to some degree.
it's "realistic" (except for the times when it's inappropriate)
it adds a certain texture to the picture... in the past, when i've shot in Nigeria, we actually kept baby oil and water spray bottles handy in case the actors were not sweating enough!
it depends on the effect one is trying to achieve, though; i'll admit that in terms of the style of Nollywood movies (which is generally pretty flat) it looks pretty bad.
so, uh... yeah, i guess i do agree with you after all!

Yeah simi, i agree with you, it is especially embarrassing when you see someone like RMD, or Ramsey in a business suit and they raise their hands to hug their young juliet and you see this ugly patch of sweat.
when they're outside it's acceptable, but when they're inside, and you see the sweat dripping off...well...
and i understand sometimes that deodrant is no match for the merciless naija sun, but...

Is not always the actors that are sweating the actress also sweat a lot. I remember watching this movie and this actress was sweating you can see it when she raise her hands and when she turn her back I can't remember who it was. Why won't they sweat like that wearing suit makes you sweat more because of the suit coat, is not appropriate for hot weather. I have noting against them because sweating is natural Even me I sweat a lot epecially on my foot and hands it completly okay, because everyone sweat is part of our body system. But for actors and actress they should change their clothes frequently when they are acting because is hot and you will be all sweaty. In some nigerian movie I have seen people wearing jackets in that hot weather.

I agree, honestly dat is an issue that needs to be dealt with, i think the lighting also makes them sweat and to make it wors some actresses also put too mcuh make up on...

very true
i find it embarrassing too i have mention this here before, in africa we wipe our faces when we sweat so the actors can use a handkerchief that will make it look natural. Emeka is the worse offender here. The ladies have the patch too sometimes even i have seen genny sweating alot off late. they should open windows or get a fan to do some of the work for them cos i feel it will be any makeup artist worse nightmare. This is one of the problems of using double glazed windows without aircondition.

the case that really grossed me out was in the movie: Boys Cot. Nonso Diobi's sister in the movie! OMG the scene with Mike Ezuruony when he approached her about making her an actrress/model, can't remember which. Anyway, that was it for me! Turned off the movie right there. And all my kids were like, eeeeeewww!

To be able to control the excessive sweating, they will either need to be working in a controlled environment, like a modern studio,or just simply find a house/flat with AC that works....and hope against hope for no power outtage.
Naija is harsh for homviemakers and performers.

I think they need to have a better pay structure with a steady wage before they can start budgeting for Air Conditioning. They are using peoples house, if the owner can allow them to use their A/C are they going to pay for the electricity bills?
.they can put these things into consideration in the beginning...if nollywood had budget control and planning.
No blame is going on any side per say
