My own choice will be(yeah y'all guessed it)-RMD!
Who would you choose?
|
I actually have been thinking along this line myself, except I was thinking along the lines of, made for TV, series and RMD would be a great choice because he has the range and versatility to carry it though, except for one thing, he is a bit too old for the part. I would cast him instead as the head of the organization. Instead I would pick Desmond (of the younger actors we have) because he is growing and developing quite well as an actor. Although to carry out the debonair, sauve, secret agent, he will have to dractically change the way he acts his love scenes. As we all know, any secret agent worth his/her salt uses seduction and if necessary sex as part of his/her MO. All for Leader and Country
oops, I just realized how long ago this post started... , way before my time...

ThickM,
I quite agree with you but I would rather they spoke the Warri variety of Nigerian Pidgin, downed ogogoro/burukutu/'schi-napp' in one gulp without batting an eyelid and ate fresh chili peppers (you know, the slim hot ones) instead of nuts or pretzels with their drink!
Which 'smooth' and 'suave'? Abeg, it's an African secret agent; they only need to present 'ukwu-akwa' either aso-oke, abada or ankara to the lady with that 'look' in their eye and that's it.
Ehn, while we're at it, make Amaechi Muonagor the double-agent oga like Al Pacino in The Recruit... mmm can actually see this happening.
On the one hand he's sending Chidi into Liberia and on the other, passing info into Charles Taylor's hands on Chidi's movements; unfortunately, his secretary who also happens to be a plant intercepts his 'heinous' plans and sets out on a parallel mission headed by Segun Arinze to ensure Chidi's cover is not blown....
Now who plays the secretary/secret agent??? Tam-Tam perhaps

Actually you are quite right in this, I forgot about him. I have seen him in some action flick and he does a good job. We will have to fix his teeth of course... . Okay that was

It sounds quite nuts, but make it tight and make it work and make it good entertainment and I will be there watching it.
But my secret agents, I still like em sauve and smooth, for leader, god and country...

Okay, at this point, Lafem, you need to define suave and smooth... If it is this jumping into bed with every available ebony/caramel/milk chocolate-skinned beauty, mbaaaaaaaaaaa! And if it is the quips, the one-liners, ehn na now you come... you see why it has to Warri pidgin? It's the smoothest, suavest Nigerian language available which most people can understand and identify with
Oya, reply kia-kia

Okay sauve and smooth for me dey simple. It is not at all about jumping into bed with every color available, actually that is the least of it, which is probably why the secret agents only get in bed with the woman they really want at the end of the movies and even then it is all with smokes and mirrors.
Very quickly,
The eyes that says volume and promises nothing at all (RMD is good at this)
the smile that is enigmatic, charming and yet just beyond,
The minimalistic delivery of emotions via the littlelest body language and movements
Actions delivered perfectly all the time, nothing over the top, nothing wasted.
The quick come backs delivered just rightly and just perfectly.
The look of a hundred secret, seemingly ready to be spilled any moment.
The enigma of dreams who does not exist in real life, only in the movies.
Sauve, smooth, perfect, like good cognac... the unrealistic man or woman,
A person whom if you had in real life, you probably will want to kill and would not keep for a long time, but in the movies for an hour or two... the perfect escape.
And of course the love making part, they can keep give that at the end of the movie delivered in smoke and mirrors..
But I really like your idea of a Warri version, let us see how we can bring it into our world. Variety is what the world should be about and anything that depicts and shows naija culture favourably to the world works for me.

Lafem,
I think you fit the quintessential nought-nought-seven because this your description left me humbled. My question was actually tongue-in-cheek; but having described the perfect secret agent (with all your smoke and mirrors:hellobaby: ) I really do think you're the only one that can pull this off. You already have the character down to a 'T'.
So is it alright for tam-tam to play your 'saviouress' i.e, the secretary/secret agent who eventually saves you with 'smoke and mirrors'?

Enter our secret service agent extraordinaire.
Guy is so good, he can pick a lock with a chewing stick. (not a toothpick, CHEWING STICK)

He is the african equivalent of James Bond.
And so our agent picks up this assignment to rid the African continent of a useless tyrant and dictator.
Will he succeed?
Of coourse he succeeds but the whole movie will be about how he goes about getting rid of Charles Taylor.
