,lol, maybe because they expect non-nigerians worldwide to watch the movies;thus an english name to them will be more appropriate.

Oh my goodness! Oga Sola, I was just about to post a thread on this issue. This is actually a serious matter here.
The only reason i think they do this, is actually because our ppl do not appreciate our culture, it really makes me mad when they go dey name ppl oyinbo names for movie, this actually doesn't limit to movie, it happens in reality, Nigerians do not appreciate our beautiful and adorable names, they go dey name their pikin so so oyinbo name, oyinbo names wey dey meaningless pass any thing. They go leave their own meaningful and adorable names like Nneka, Mofolorunso, Oyindamola, Morinsola.
Just pointing out, Oga Sola, Musibau no be Nigerian name o

We just don't value our own stuff that's all. Everything english made, don't matter if names, are better than anything naija made to most people. I hata that thing. I noticed too o, especially that imperial name.

Now here is something funny!
When you see a naija movie with xters from different ethnic groups(eg.yoruba, hausa, ibo),the hausa xter will be given a hausa name without any qualms(eg,Dauda),the yoruba xter would be given a yoruba name with utmost ease(eg.Seyi),but when the turn of the ibo xter comes, guess what, they'll be struggling to give him/her an igbo name!Instead the poor xter will end up with crazy foreign names like GENTILITY,FORTUNE,PRISCA or IMPERIAL!
Why is that?

actually, both Yorubas and Igbo a like are give english names - check out Omo-T litany of English names...it's only Hausa, I've noticed that retain their own names - if they are always their own, since some are Arabic - that's getting technical

Sorry to disagree with you there,YMG flicks use yoruba names mostly.Even if it is a english language movie done with yoruba xters in them, the xters are always given yoruba names by whomever is behind the movie, but not if the xters are igbo.Check your english movies with yoruba xters in them and you will see that they(yoruba xters) bear yoruba names and not english names.

It's mostly true for the YMG!
In general, we Naijas take a lot of influences from the western and middle eastern worlds, hence their imprints on our languages and cultres/worldviews!
