Get To The Point Already!!!

Am I the only one that fast forwards through Nigerian movies, waiting for them to get the hell to the point? Don't get me wrong, when they eventually do, it is good. But do we really need to see people drive for 5 minutes from point A-B or stare at the stolen picture of a girl they've never spoken to, but believe she is the love of their life? In my opinion, scenes like that should be deleted, they are just unnecessary fillers that are not important to the plot, and they bore the hell out of audiences. No wonder there is a Part 11 for every movie.

Ok I'm venting but I just rented one last night and stayed up past my best time watching it

I hear you. No one ever talks about the editors, but they're such a critical element in the production process. The editor helps the director pace prodcutions in the studio. He tells him when a scene is too long, tiresome, needs music to bring it to life, and all that. The editor should really be given the logged tapes and told to do his job (from a fresh eyed POV), while the director and team watch to ensure he stays true to the story.

In Naija, we teleguide the editor because just a handful of them really know what they should be doing. Many just learn how to use NLEs, and then cut and join as told, nothing else. No input. No disagreement with you as to what makes a cut or transition work or fail. Yeah, we also need educated editors.

Growing pains!
BTW,2 scenes in Private Sin lasted for exactly 8 minutes apiece!!!
The very first church scene and the party scene, and that is not even the record.I just fastforward as well jare.
They have to drag and stretch the scenes to squeeze two parts out of these movies these days!

And they will say that naija produces 1000 movies annually,na lie!with all these single scripts divided into many different parts just to make money. They take a script and stretch it visually almost to breaking point to get more parts out of it and then refer to them as 2 different movies.
They are just like mini soaps.
I bet they produce these 1000 movies from less than 700 different scripts.

They are only able to do this because they have a very cheap distribution medium. How much does a CD-R costs?
If the delivery medium was on celluloid, then they wouldn't have dared to be so wasteful.
The stories of the vast majority of these movies with more than one part can actually be told in the space of 120 minutes, and that is what is so annoying about it all.
