Yeah! that's how it's spelled, but it is very easy to mix up. I've mixed it up so many times.
BTW. This documentary so far is the best I have seen about Nollywood. It's not like those made out of jealousy by them Americans, The British and South Africans.

force, do you mean out of jealousy or in a more realistic light? this doc was enjoyable but it was more of a discovery for the filmmaker, did you hear the question he was asking? he was clearly like 'u must be kidding' with some of em.
what the heck was that woman doing teaching acting?
why are home directors so rude to their actors? woa, Lanceleot gives loud line readings to his cast? I thought directors had to walk up to your actor and talk to him so only he can hear you?....
why give a line reading anyway? the actor is at his best when you allow them to produce what they feel....no? Emem has a sweet voice sha.
many rivers to cross

Every other docu. I've watched about nollywood, have been presented in a form of mockery. but this one seem to be done out of sincere curiosity. He really spoke to people that matters and those that know what they are doing, and not some producers trying to sound American and bragging about how a movie can be done with ten thousand dollars.
What was wrong with the woman's teaching?
My moment of laughter was with the marketer/distributor, (laff nearly kill me) these marketers and money self. He that pays the piper, dictates the tune, he said. (as if the tune on the movies are meant for the marketers' enjoyment)
In fact the whole comments from the trader/distributor was a total bullsh@t.

He said it without blinking an eye.
We do have a long way to go as long as this marketers are still in control. That also explain why you see the same people over and over again.
Thanks Khami, it was nice.

Bravo Khami for posting this here
The documentary is a pure reflection of the situation in Nollywood;
-Directors need direction
-Marketers need to lay-off or learn the trade without a buying and selling mentality
-The entire industry needs to be more proffessional from script writing to production and distribution.
-The involvement of banks is welcomed and would speed-up the road to quality movies from Nollywood and so on
I agree that change is constant in Nollywood and that within a few years, the standards would be better than what it is now.
Emem Isong is ever so impressive

YES, YES, AND YES TO ALL THE POINTS YOU RAISED.
i was very sad when that marketer said "he who pays the piper dictates the tune". is it just me or did he say/imply that they - the marketers- control ALL aspects of the film making?
and did you hear Ms Isong say that they couldn't make movies that criticize the government? the censor board needs to either overhaul their board or find something else to do, because some of the movies that they let through are just beyond anything imaginable...but anyway.
Great job for making this available to us Kham.

but force, he is right. even in the american film industry. if a studio is giving you money, thye decide who goes into the movie. i remember reading an antoine fuqua interview where he was blaming the studios creative control for his failed movies.
I have also heard a lot of producers complain that it is hard to get negeative funds from a studio unless you have a big name attached as both director and actors. so you end up going for private equity or hedge funds, another reason why indie filmmakers who do not get studio distributed make no money.
in so many ways, nollywood business is just like every other country. and indeed, he who pays the piper does call the tune... goes without saying.

Anyway, Hollywood studios are not in anyway compared to the Idumota marketers, who do not have a standard distribution frame work and are not professionals in this line of business, allowing them to call the shots is to spell doom for the industry.
By now production houses should be able to finance their own movies without having to seek for funds from these traders, and neither rely on them for the distributions of their finish works.
What is the essence of boasting the sales of hundreds of thousand copies of movies and after ten years of consistently releasing two movies per month, and they still can't finance their own movies? .... It beats me.
