Dare-devil armed robbers Tuesday raided the premises of Saint Leo Catholic Church, Ikeja in Lagos, and carted away a yet to be ascertained sum of money. This came barely one week after gunmen shot and killed a Catholic priest in Yaba area of the metropolis.

Report has it that a Reverend Sister alleged that a six-man gang of robbers invaded the church compound located on Toyin Street, Ikeja at about 3am and demanded to be taken to the church safe at gun-point.

The robbers, who held some of the clergymen hostage, were alleged to have scaled the walls of the church and immediately headed for the residential quarters where they subsequently demanded for money.

For me why is it everytime I read robbery news in Nigeria seems to me the police or army has hands in it?

Because they do not enforce law and order anymore,but robbery and disorder.

Armed robbers are active everywhere and everytime....This one gets published cause it’s the most unexpected place you'd expect burglary to take place.

I wonder what all other churches would do now...hire security guards(opc)? Only God knows where this world is going to. Armed robbers now have no respect for God! What a shameful world!

I guess churches have become "cash institutions" that are open to robbery hits just like banks.Churches are making good money in naija now and have become targets.
