RCCG - Members please enter ...
All others are welcome too
Anyways my own question to those that attend RCCG is:
Has anyone of you done the the School of Disciples? If yes how was it and what expiricne did you gain. Was it tough for you?? According to what I heard was that the SOD used to be ten years long and now the minimized it down to ten months. Am thinking of enrolling but am not too sure and apart from that I don't know yet about the financial part.

I enrolled in it once but my church never finished the program. As a matter of fact, I don't think we had more than 2 or 3 classes and that was like 2000/2001.
Now that you mentioned it, I'm tryna to figure what is the purpose of it? Know the benefit of it before enrolling in it. And make sure the curriculum is at standard of your environment, because they do most of these teachings in RCCG that its based on Nigerian setting and idealogy of Nigerians, meanwhile they teaching it intenationally and you can hardly apply it to situation around you. Some of the content will be written in King James English you will be wondering what are you reading?

Diversion permitted?
Anyway,
Am not an RCCG member...but I've been to a few of your churches...overseas and Nigeria and I got this question.
What does one feel this RCCG (worldwide & Nigeria) warmth...but cannot experience it when you visit if you are non-yoruba....I mean, you see how close people are, very helpful to each other and stuff...but once you get there, you can only feel the presence of this "warmth" but not experience it.
It isnt pronounced, you are welcomed and stuff, you enjoy the service and fellowship to follow suit....but deep inside you as you continuously participate, you begin to find it hard to develop relationships?
NB: I have been to a few (wouldnt mention names) and heard alot of other non-yoruba people mention that. I know a lot of Non-yoruba people that are high in the church too and I asked and they said "It was hard".
Is it a cultural thing or something?

Its just a bad habit people can't curtail. I actually got uninterested in going for Conventions sometimes because it will be like 95% Yoruba people and some people will even start talking to you in Yoruba as if they automatically believe you should understand what they are saying.
Some of these Pastors will come to U.S. saying they coming to give real gospel to White people but they find it hard to assimilate to the environment talkless of having a church that is not full of Nigerians or Yoruba's. And some of them just sit in pulpit and take whatever people that flood into the church.
Only a few of international Rccg churches are sensitive to the need of the foreigners and goes out of their way to see how they can build better relationship with a foreign person. Even myself when I first started visiting the church I'm in, right now. If not for me being an adult and the kind of social person that I am. I had to force myself to break into some circles and get to know people. If not you will just see people in church, if they get to say Hi or Hello to you, you are lucky. People will just make faces and walk by. Thats if they don't step on you in their way.

Yeah, I guess so. I've been wondering myself. I guess its one of those ministries that unintentionally caters for the needs of a certain group of people...I mean its the same in a few churches.

That's why my Pastor banned people of speaking yoruba in church and during any service.
The funny thing is that the yorubas are the minority in my church
