Directed by Adim Williams
Starring Genevieve, Tony Umez and Clarion Chukwura Abiola, Jennifer Eliogu
Summary: Odili is Tony Umez, married to Joy (Genevieve) and has fallen on hard economic times. He runs to his ex (Clarion Chukwura) who insists that he must marry her before she gives him a penny. He does, and its all downhill from there.
This is an old movie (2003),and I only bought it because Beautiful Soul highly recommended it. Its full of stereotypes, cliches, juju, the soundtrack that tells the whole story, the fighting inlaws, all the things that I no longer tolerate in Naija movies. And the formula of the evil other woman has been beaten to death recently, so that did not help matters at all. I guess this is where the cliche of Tony Umez as the gullible man started, because he certainly played that role here - pushed to and fro by the other woman.
It wasn't all bad. It had interesting moments. Genevieve was spectacular playing the role of a mad woman, while Clarion Chukwura did good as the other woman. Tony Umez was okay in the role of weak easily manipulated husband as well.
However, there were too many elements of it that I just did not like. Too predictable. And the inability to deal with mental illness without treating it like it was due to juju was just irritating on so many levels. The other mad man spouting grammer blah!! And it was very predictable. You just knew what was gonna happen next once the plot was settled in part 1. Not very intellectual at all. I think Izu Ojukwu, Kelani has spoiled me. Even Emem is better than this.
Did not really work for me. I feel like I wasted my time.
