all the hoo-ha over this Yankee Girls says a lot about the Nigerian mentality sha...

so this Yankee Girls is a smash... a masterpiece... is it because of the movie's wonderful script? its high level of acting? or is this the first Nollywood movie to have good lighting and sound?

nope! it's because they did the unprecedented and DESTROYED A HUMMER JEEP! GET YOUR COPY NOW!!!

i haven't seen the movie and don't plan to, so tell me: did they actually destroy the WHOLE Jeep or just the windshield? i remember a while back that Pompom was kinda mocking some movie that was in the process of being shot, in which the producer was making mouth saying "We don arrive... This one na Hollywood!" because they shattered the windshield on a Jeep.

not that i'm saying that smashing the glass on a perfectly good Jeep is a small thing, sha... but i just wish we would be impressed by more substantive issues rather than just flashy (but ultimately empty) gestures.

not that it's only a Nigerian issue, either... it's not like in other parts of the world people are not impressed by empty movies that have flashy stunts or special effects.

but still... just think how stupid it sounds for a movie's claim to fame being "the one in which dem destroy Jummer Jeep!"

whatever gets the man paid, of course... if it makes dollars, i guess it makes sense. can't hate the hustle.

Folks,i am dazed that at this stage of "Nollywood",and in a forum meant for lovers of Nollywood,people measure a movie by the fact that producer/marketer made his money plus more.Sounds like its all about business with little regard for the message in the movie and quality of production.Why shout down people who see it all as crap especially if the crap is seasoned with a display of acute ignorance in the form of an interview?Well,it all butresses the fact that the movie industry in Nigeria is a mirrow of the Nigerian society:Its all about the money
