Alade Aromire bounces back in Yotomi
The name, Alade Aromire, rings a bell in the Yoruba movie industry and television broadcasting. One of the second generation home video producers of the Yoruba extraction, Alade, as he was popularly called by his fans, was prolific.
Before his sudden disappearance from the scene a few years ago for reasons he described as “personal,” the artiste told Daily Sun that he has to his credit more than two hundred films, including mere appearances.
“I can’t remember precisely the number of films I have produced and acted in. But I know that they are more than two hundred. Recalling the journey into entertainment, Alade said that way back in the secondary school, his passion for world acclaimed actor like Roger Moore, Ian Flemmings, Bruce Lee and Dhamendra, among others inspired him. “When I was a student, I was a member of my school’s drama group and the Eko Drama Club between 1974 and 1980. As a teenager who had a flair for acting, I started imitating their roles. Besides, my father was another inspiration. He was a songwriter, scriptwriter and an entertainer.”
Moreover, the filmmaker revealed how foremost Youruba actor and producer, Mr Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello), introduced him to professional acting. “They were my mentors and they influenced the early stage of my career.”
As providence would have it, Alade, in no time became outstanding in his chosen career even though he noted that he went into acting not for the money but for self-fulfillment.“At that time, we weren’t so particular about the financial rewards . What we had then, was the celluloid format of film making. Later, we moved to home video, and I was ranked as one of the pioneer Yoruba video film actors of the early 80’s.”
Can anybody still remember him?? http://odili.net/news/source/2006/feb/8/810.html
