Kofi Okyere Darko aka KOD, one of Ghana's radio presenters, left Accra last Sunday for South Africa to represent Ghana at the Big Brother Africa 3 launch to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa on August 24.

KOD will spend a night in the Big Brother Africa 3 House with other journalists from around Africa, where he would be taped by the show's production team during a technical rehearsal for the show.

KOD and other journalists' overnight stay in the BBA 3 house is scheduled for tonight August 21 and they would leave the house mid-morning.

This way, they would experience a bit of what the housemates experience - being locked in a house with 11 other strangers from different African countries and filmed and heard by a number of cameras and microphones.

The team would as well be taken on a tour of the camera way of the BBA 3 house to give them an idea of how the BBA house works behind the scenes.

They will, however, not be able to meet or interview the housemates before the show starts.

KOD during his visit would tour the offices of Multi Choice Africa and M-Net where he would be introduced to some important personalities in the showbiz industry in South Africa.

KOD, as he is called in showbiz circles, has carved a niche for himself in the Ghanaian media as one who wants the industry and its players to grow.

Born at Winneba in the Central Region, KOD has a thing for the spotlight, and it shows in his dress sense and sometimes outrageous fashion statements. But that is what gets him around and growing in entertainment circles.

The 31-year-old showbiz icon, who is always spotted with a smile on the face, is always elegantly dressed and ever-ready to help a brother or sister move up the ladder.

He told Beatwaves before his departure that he would use his visit to South Africa to promote Ghanaian music and culture in that country.

According to him, he would use the opportunity to study the South African music industry as well as the roles being played by the media to promote show business in that country.

KOD entered broadcasting at the age of 20, and worked with seasoned radio presenters like Kwame Sefa Kayi, Shirley Frimpong Manso, B.B. Menson and Fiifi Banson at Radio Gold.

KOD is the only presenter who has ever hosted every programme on Radio Gold and undoubtedly the most-sought-after presenter in Ghana.

His relationship with gurus like KKD (Kwesi Kyei Darkwah) and Yaw Addo Darkwah had made it easier for him to slip through the cracks.

KOD has contributed to the rise to fame of many music stars like Daasebre Gyamena, Ofori Amponsah, Nana Quame, Tinny, Wutah, Praye, Kofi B and a host of others.
