Ok, Lolo, we can make our points without insulting anybody. I am not a big fan of our marketers but we should always see things both ways. These guys are the only ones (except for few independents) that have financially participated in this movie industry! They see the whole thing as their baby and make every effort (both favourable to us or not) to make sure they do not lose the monopoly. Instead of us posting links and saying nasty things about our fellow citizens (who are the ones sponsoring and distributing these films yet), why not we overseas do something about it? The marketers do not owe us any explanation even though I agree what they did is not the best strategy. Think am, sha.

    1. They are business men, and they created this phenomenom called NOLLYWOOD, with out them your beloved Stars would be unknown both to you and everybody else. With help from any coprate body, they have survived for 11yrs... So whatever decisions they are making to keep their business/Trade alive can never be called STUPID & SENSELESS

    2. We have gone through this so many times before, though you are entitled to ur opinion, but you dont have to always Insult these people (you know nothing or willing to learn something about) to make your points. They might not have acted the way so many people wanted, but they are definitely not stupid or senseless.. Cause I have never seen any Stupid/Senseless people creating a multibillion $$ Industry out of nothing.

your point is understood and well taken. Perhaps you might want to give us some ideas of what we 'overseas' can do as I too believe that these stars have worked hard for their fame, thus, deserving of what they're asking.

Oh yes there is. We knew that some Nollywood actors were banned, but most of us never knew the marketers planned to introduce a salary cap on the actors. Unless I'm mistaken that's something new.

It's not old new. As you can see that website has just been updated. No one on NR ever mentioned the marketers introducing a salary cap on the actors. :)

Whether they created the industry or not doesn't mean they should behave in such manner. Don't forget that one of the most important principles in running a business is to give the customers what they want. And right now what most people want is to see their favourite stars acting movies. These marketers have no right to instill a salary cap. If they cannot afford the established actors that's their business. Because of these stupid marketers, Nollywood movies have been banned at the Cannes film festival, the most prestigious film festival in the world. I don't know why you keep on defending these marketers, but I'll never get tired of saying how stupid they are.

You never cease to amaze me. These actors are capable of selling thousands of movies. Most fans purchase these movies because their favourite actors featured in them. Incase you don't know, some of these actors have so much merchandising power that they're now brand names. People like Genevieve Nnaji is capable of selling any movie she stars in. Fixing a salary cap is like cheating the actors. Why didin't Hollywood introduce salary caps for actors like Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Julia Roberts.? Don't forget that these actors recieve nothing less than $20 million per picture.

My friend you are not a Nigerian neither do you know how complex some things are in Nigeria and neither do u have the slightest Idea how things work in Nollywood.. Not in ten life times, The only thing you can do is listen to those who has been there and actually know how it works. U can never, I repeat never use your own understanding of how business is supposed to be done else where or the outside world to judge what goes on in Nollywood. Its obvious that I cant get to you, so lets leave it at that, but pls stop Insulting the Marketers (untill u at least know what they are about and not bits u read here or other journals).... Dont be surprised when I take you to Naija your perspective of things would change drastically....

PS:This is by no means saying the Marketers are Saints cause they are not!

Khamileon there are other people from Nigeria who criticise the marketers more than I do. Some of these guys have been to Nigeria and yet they feel very angry because of the action of the marketers. These marleters have no respect for neither the actors nor do they respect the fans who purchase the movies.

Don't you think stupid and ignorant is the best way to describe them? Are you afraid to criticise the marketers because they won't market your movies if you do? I'm begining to think you're one of the marketers. If you are, then I believe you should inform them in your next meeting that the fans are becoming very angry because of the attitudes. That's if they don't know that already. :cool-smil

Its obvious u are not open to learn, so why waste time on this topic... There is a difference between criticising and Insuting! Peaople! Going to Nigeria doesnt mean you know jack about Nollywood.. Further more.. I am not afriad of ANYBODY, but respect those who deserve it. I will tell anyone of them right to their face "FU.. YOU" ... Go ask CrazyT about me! I make my rules and dont depend on them.

If the learnig you're talking about is for me to change my opinion on the marketers, then I don't think I'll learn. If I'm to follow your posts on this thread, you're trying to say that whoever criticise the marketers doesn't know about Nollywood. Khamileon the marketers are enemies of progress. Even an established actor like Sam Loco Efe said in one of his interviews that the marketers are fighting new investors from abroad who want to develop Nollywood and take the industry to another level. These marketers are fighting new investors because they want to monopolise the industry.

My friend I want you to know that "who the cap fit, let him wear it". I don't consider my words as insults, rather I consider my words as describing the marketers. If these people are "grown ups and they're also family men" as you claim, then let them start behaving as matured individuals. Afterwards, the actors are also matured and educated people with families to take care of. I don't know whether it's illiteracy or stupidity that's affecting the marketers. And yes I said it. help:
