She was nominated for an AMAA. Do ppl even care for that award show?
Slick, I think the AMAAs is more important than the Oscars despite being a replica of it. Because it is Africans honoring Africans, as opposed to the Oscars being run by Europeans that predominately honor other Europeans.

If you notice, Sandra Bullock was nominated as an "American" woman, or simply a "woman", whereas Monique and the cast of 'Precious' were nominated as "African American" women and men; see the difference?

Monique said her win was not political and based on performance, but I beg to differ. I've come to realize that the Academy Awards is very much a political event, and much of how the awards are dispersed at the Oscars is politicized due to the ceremony's history and global prestige (snobbery).

That is why I think the AMAAs is important right now to NollyGolly, and hopefully Illuminati don't have their hands in this yet!

You do have a point about the Oscars being a politicized event. I cringed when Barbara Streisand said before she presened the "Best Director" category that it will be a woman or an African American. I was like DOES IT MATTER? Give the damn award already. They like to remind us about race relations everyday. The woman is James Cameron's ex for goodness sake. She is not "disadvantaged" in any way.

Just finished watching a Preview copy of the movie last night. The Audio/visuals were very good, but the story was not well delivered. I give it a 7.5
