Finally watched Abeni this weekend. Good flick overall, but with the usual issues!

For one, I couldn't stand the long scenes with music. Granted the main xter (Akanni) was a musician and business man, but I didnt take to being subjected to endless scenes at night clubs etc, to stress the point. Same problem I had with "Campus Queen", I found myself constantly fastforwarding when I got to any of those scenes were people were performing:smilies23 .

I thought Akanni's xter was a bit indecisive, esp when he dealt with the breakup with his fiance after he rekindled things with Abeni(He should have been more humane to her!). And the entire childhood bonding between Akanni and Abeni was not developed properly!. One scene at a party at the start of the movie was all that the viewer was given, strings at best!!!

All in all, I enjoyed it sha!grinning:

The song sequences are actually parts of the highlights of the flick to me.I love every bit of those song scenesThe songs are lovely.
I did not feel that the song scenes were endless, they were just the right length, unlike the normal idumota music/party scenes that go on like forever, playing yeye yankee songs that are not even of good audio quality.
You're right about the childhood part not being properly developed.I felt it was rushed. It was not clear why the young Akanni entered into that fight with the other kid at the birthday party scene.

It's cool that you enjoyed the song sequences then, cos I just fastforwarded through them:) as I wasn't into any of those songs. Spot on about the party scene, the young akanni just lunged at the boy and I rewound that scene to understand what went on and never got it!

It was a good flick regardless!
