Best Paid Nollywood Actresses Revealed
Monday, 07 July 2008

The Nigerian movie industry boasts of tested actors and actresses which have risen to the pinnacle of their career due to dint of hard work and focus. Among those considered to be the best paid actresses in the industry include.

Genevieve Nnaji: - It is no gain saying the fact that no actress has taken Nollywood with as much storm as Genevieve Nnaji who evolved over time like a colossus to bestride the industry.

Her career in the show biz started with modelling under Alex Usifo’s outfit before she got her first movie role in Ralph Nwadike’s film as a newscaster. Today, the former face of lux has countless movies to her credit. The beautiful actress who needs no introduction as far as acting and modeling are concerned is at the height of her career. She has also veered into music and fashion. As face of Lux, she got over N20 million as endorsement fee and she is also one of the best paid actresses in Nollywood as her artiste fee as above one million naira.

Ini Edo:- This sex siren joined Nollywood when she was a student of University of Calabar and today she is one of the big stars in the industry. She has also featured in numerous films and makes over one million naira as artiste fee.

Patience Ozorkuo:- Popularly known as Mama Gee,’ Patience started off as a radio presenter before she was introduced to the movies. She also featured in a bread advert with Chief Chike Okpala (Chief Zebrudaya) and Pete Eneh. Since then she has become a house- hold name in the movie industry.

Today, Patience Ozorkuo does not only act but sings as well. Her artiste fee is in the neighourhood of millions.

Omotola Jalade:- Before she clocked 20 years, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde was already a face to behold in the screen. Her break started in ‘mortal inheritance’ a film about sickle cell anemia, however, she was involved in modeling before she veered into the movies.

The entry of Omotola into show biz will not be complete without mentioning that her pilot husband has been very supportive and contributory to her rise to stardom. She earns more than a million in each movie.

Nkiru Sylvanus:- she comes from a conservative Christian home in Abia State but has always had passion for acting . After her first role, a cameo appearance in ‘Eagle Bride’ Things have changed for the actress. Getting the top actress to appear on a movie takes as much as one million now.

Ngozi Ezeonu:- Orignally, this mother of four was trained as a journalist but the quest to express herself made her to delve into show biz. She started as a model before Zeb Ejiro, an all movie producer and director discovered her. He offered her a role in a Soap opera and later to Nollywood. Today, she earns fantastic fees in the make believe industry.

=========================
I know that Nkiru has been in nollywood for a long time now abeg oh I find it hard to believe that she now appears on a movie that paid about one million Nkiru features in more village movies and I do not think she will get that amount of money. Nkiru was never in Eagle Bride it features Chioma and oge maybe the person that wrote this article mistaken the actresses I don't is Nkiru I think is Chioma the person was talking about not Nkiru.

It is saddening that they earn so little...........12,820 per movie? waka passes in Transformers earned more!
Can't believe you are the one saying this! Some people actually spend their hard earned money to produce these films and do you have any idea how much they stand to realise at the end of the day? These big Nollywood actors spend less than three to four days in each location to get paid this (forget about the millions they are yapping there) and you want to compare Nollywood with Transformer that big corporations may have financed? DD, you shock me no be small o.

Im looking at it from the actors perspective o Im sorry if i burst some bubbles and shocked you

What about their hectic schedules? sure 4 days on location but bills nko? cost of living?

They are churning out the same type of movies splitting them into part 3's and 4's taking all the profit from that not even cutting the actors in.... im sure they can afford to reward them something better!

Let them start showing the movies in nigerian cinema's just like they are doing to hollywood movies at silverbird and the other place in lekki maybe they can pick up some revenue its an industry for gods sake the money is supposed to go around not stay stagnant on the top!

Hmmmm, "Transformer" Isn't that a Hollywood production?

If so...then there was no need for the comparison at all

We are 3rd Largest Movie making industry behind hollywood and maybe bollywood ? what do the actors and actresses in naija have to show for it? Even some of them dont have cars...trekking from one location to the other

Its all about improving the industry why cant we start with better compensation where is the money that got us into the number 3 spot?

i mean cmon am i supposed to be saying "wow you mean they earn that much?" mba! That is not much o!

The piracy and poor management for that country na the biggest factors of such dismal earnings of our producers, actors and all that make their earning through Nollywood.

Them parts 3 and 4 na waste of money. The pirates na the one making money in Nigeria.

Do they not have two factions? The Ejike Asiegbu led and the other one?
Maybe thats the problem @ bolded

From what i understand an actors guild is meant to protect the welfare of actors and actresses AND we have two why??? we cant pick point where in the movie making process the movies are being pirated my guess is the printing plants they are probably printing more copies than demanded selling the others to dealers for their own pocket money
