The sequel makes a whole lot more sense than the first part. Grace Amah really impressed me with her role coz i know it would have been typical of the producers to put genny in the bitchy office gurl role. But i enjoyed the movie a great deal especially when genny regained her self confidence

This movie, I watched a few weeks ago and everytime i remember watching it, i jus wanna hiss! It was a complete waste of time. It lacked continuity and professionalism. I would've thought it was just someone messing about with cameras and stuff if i hadn't seen Genny and Van and Grace in it. Absolutely useless, what were they thinking when the took on the roles?!

i kept saying this to myself. there has got 2 b other parts how can you end a movie with "You know I love you"?

Nice storyline and quiet unique.....but Van seriously needs acting lessons...He was not convincing at all.....apparently the part three and four is called 'River of tears' and it appears Gen Nnaji is in control....as the sheep is noted for its calmness but when you push it too hard to the wall, it will definitely fight back and probably bite...its on.

ps...i thought the kids acted okay as compared to what I read here...as for the chemistry btwn Gen and Van, I think there was chemistry, but due to Van failing to deliver his part well, it appeared that it was not there.

So I decided to finish what I started, so I got into river of tears. You all said it improved in part 3 and 4 so I decided to see for myself.

Just finished watching part 1. Van Vicker cannot act. Did I say that earlier? And this is a very mediocre script. Very poorly written and filmed. The scenes do not flow into each other. Instead, its very choppy - jumping from scene to scene without any kind of continuity whatsoever. No real resolution. Something happens, and then the scene is gone, and no follow up. And Grace Amah's character so far is just pathetic, honestly.

BUT let me watch part 2 and finish the review.

Part 2 is the best part of the movie. They explained Kate's issue (with flashbacks of course), and it was alright, except that they had to add some cock and bull useless flashbacks to explain how Gene met Van. That was so not necessary. The whole story with Grace Amah was just weird and illogical, right up to the very end. And the details - why is a big man like that renting a house, when he could afford to buy one for his potential mistress.

I guess even the best part of the movie was not so great. A potentially great story, but just too much crap ojare. Kate and Gene were very badly directed in this one. I could see something wrong in every scene. It felt rushed, choppy.

I still don't recommend it. River of tears is marginally better than broken tears. Just marginally.

Overall rating - 5/10.

My sentiments exactly...Grace Amah's role eneded up being pointless although the whole idea behind it could have made the movie very interesting but they messed up....and jumping from scene to scene without any kind of continuity showned that although they had a nice and unique storyline, it was not planned well...the director should be ashamed of himself...even right at the begining of part one of 'broken tears' when Van started beating Gen and their daughter started calling her mom, they interrupted that scene by going into a totally different scene where kate was dreaming and running.....i was a bit confused and kept thinking it was Gene running away from van only to find out that it was kate....sweat: what a mess.smokin:

Well, I just watched all 4 parts of this movie i.e. Broken Tears 1 & 2, then River of Tears 1 & 2. I'm glad to see Genny is back. If it's at all possible, her acting has gotten even better. She has a lot of range and is very believable in any role. Van Vicker has got to work on his acting skills, especially his delivery of lines. Sometimes it comes off real stiff. He's a cutie, even if he is 4'11. Just kidding.

Alright, this movie was mediocre, but Genny and Kate picked it up a bit. It definitely could have all been done under 1 dvd. If you watch Broken Tears pt. 2 along with River of Tears pt. 2, you will still understand the entire movie. I'm not sure why the producers feel the need to draaaaaaaaaaaaag out a storyline. I guess it's for money. Anyway, I agree with the general review and give this one a 5/10, but for Genny and Kate, I'll make it a 6/10.

At least the 2008 movies are showing signs of improvement. I'm looking forward to watching the other Genny movies that I received. Also, it looks like Ramsey is on the come up again. It's about time a movie worth reviewing has come out.

Just saw this movie and im bewildered that the majority rates it a 5/10. This is a story lines dat tells exactly what happens in our today African homes. A storyline that tells that the African woman is brave and the major who holds the family as one.

God im so feeling dis movie and every1 I saw it wit were in estacy. I think the story line and the movie itself is an 8/10. Genevieve, Kate and Genevieve's daughter in the movie deserves an 8/10. Van was good too but my bro's gestures are too excessively dandified and Id like 2 hear more of the Ghanian natural expression dan the Americans. Van be fine boy no need 4 him 2 keep draggin it. Id give Van and Grace a 6.5/10.
