    Thanks dear.
Lol @ school. Blonding is too irresistible I deliberately ignore the consequences sometimes. lol
It is a cycle with me. I keep bleaching and bleaching and one day, the hair go just vex, and I will lose hair and have to cut it and start all over again.

lol. Seriously, I was surprised say na back hair fall out this time O! Usually it is my baby hairs and the whole front go turn gorimakpa and make me look like those grannies for village. lolol.

Sis, the platinum blonde dey now, only say I get brown roots...but na the shaving wey I go do the back today dey worry me, as it would make me look gangster! I actually like hair for back so that I can corn-row from time to time. Now with punk style, I cant.

<crying>...but this hair did good this time O! la\sted a whole year without cutting! Because I kept it natural! Na the back to back bleaching ...in fact, 2nd bleaching was just 4 days after the first one! And it was just retouching ni!

I honestly thought my natural hair would withstand my usual bleaching abuse! But, alas, I was wrong! :D

But check this out, i used to have this problem when I texturized my hair: I would texturize like week 1, and they will say wait 2 weeks before bleaching hair, so, I will wait 2 weeks, and by then, undergrowth with seriously dark black hair don grow out, so, I go texturize then, and they will say, wait 2 weeks before you bleach hair again, and I will wait carry blonde with black roots for 2 weeks and by the time I texturized, I wouldn't be able to bleach out the black roots....and on and on...till I go vex texturixe and bleach same week, and then the falling and breaking off starts again! :roll. So, I turned to NATURAL for stronger hair, but whosai! Bleaching is just wikkid on hair! And since I've gone bleaching in 2007, it is hard for me to keep my hair black now! I get lots of compliments and honestly think it makes me seem lighter in complexion than with black hair. ;)

just took a stroll down memory lane on this thread, and i've come a long way in my hair journey.
 at my novice self. asking all those questions.

three years later, and although I have gone through periods where i wasn't very happy with the hair (that inbetween stage where it was too short to do anything), for the most part, I've been pleased.
Still having a lot of fun with the hair. love it.
even learned how to twist my own hair (that cornrow thing still eludes me though)

my hair care regime has gone through a lot of metamorphorsis. no longer product driven, learned that i cannot use too many products on my hair.
Now I only use Coconut oil and water to moisturize my hair.
and the "As I am" twisting cream and conditioner my sister sent me (thanks sis!)

had to learn to stop comparing hair lengths or expecting my hair to be so and so length after so and so period of time.

me and my hair, we're on a journey, and we're taking our time and doing it right.

    ahh! glad to hear that.
I was a little put off because they don't have a website! what the heck? in this day and age?
anyway, they seem to have 4 different lines? which do you recommend? my friend was hunting for the conditioner and she went to three different stores, i happened to see one at CVS while picking up some meds and picked it up for her.
and which of the products do you actually use? i saw a soufle, a smoothie, curling milk...
    oya start explaining :)

I know, their lack of website pisses me off too, but they are very active on facebook answering any questions you might have. OK, I am shea moisture product junkie because I believe I have tried all their hair products (except the hair color systems which I am still contemplating, but getting closer to making a decision! ). I can’t remember their names but I can check when I get home...here are a few.
I use their detangler on a daily basis on Ashers hair, not as a detangler but it keeps his dry hair moist and soffffft, and when he has it, I CAN comb his hair without him screaming “No No No” and fighting me off..its a bit thick so I moist his hair first with water.... only con is that its thick, thus hard to get out of the can, so I have to hit it really hard on the counter surface.
I use the Coconut & Hibiscus Curling Souffle Gel weekly for my twist outs and also when I do my updo around my edges.

With shea moisture, my hair takes longer to dry, but the end results are a soft, moisturized hair. I use the Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk as part of my nightly routine to moisturize my hair before donning my silk scarf heading to bed. Their Reconstructive Elixir did magic to my heat damage and I also used it when I straightened my hair, my hair looked so shiny like someone who just did a Dominican blowout!

I use their baby line on a friends daughter (and on Asher too too;)) and her mum has been raving about it.

Many more products I have of them, cant remember their names!

Did I mention that I am venturing into their body line once I exhaust the produts I am using now.

I need to buy stocks in this company!

I just saw this, how dare you, coming in here with your long hair (at least compared to mine), and telling me you won't give me credit. If you see what I have been through you will recant your post and offer a full public apology. I will be waiting.......

hmm..you are raving just as much as my co-worker and my friend. this is serious o.
so if i were to get the soufle and smoothie and milk...in what order do they go? and how does one use it? and which is the moisturizer?
which should i twist my hair with?
should i apply the soufle after conditioning my hair? or is it the smoothie?
and which conditioner do you prefer? the blacklabel or the orange label?

this is why they need a frigging website.

you can tell i have been traumatized by my search for my friend's conditioner!

The only Shea moisture I'm getting is the Shea Butter I buy from the market for 150. Natural unrefined. Mixed with my homemade extra virgin coconut oil and essential oils. Does wonders for my skin and hair.

you can get some essential oils like lavender or rosemary and mix it up.
when I use raw shea, I put a few drops of either oil in water and spray in my hair. masks the smell of the raw shea.

    Thanks.
But the ones I see in African stores look 'blocked' (hardened)...how does one keep it soft in this cold weather, does it have to be heated up/softened to be used?

that's one of the issues i had with it. that, and the smell.
i usually just nuke it in the microwave, or run some hot water in the sink and sit in there. mine doesn't take long to heat up or soften enough for me scoop out what i need.

Don't mind me. I have even relaxed my hair so I should not even be here. When I look at hair like Nse's I start regretting relaxing when I had finally reached a point that I could style it different ways. Oh well.
