Contemplating Going Natural?

Tam-tam nwa, abeg i'd like to know more about the 2 strand twists, how is it done? I saw pictures of it, but i'd like to know how it's done.
It's good to know that it can be done with wet/damp or dry hair(depending on your preference) You can part your hair with a comb or your fingers; it's up to you.

Rather that three strands as if you were about to braid it, take two and twist them round the other, or use one as the main 'twister', while the other strand remains stationary. It should come out looking like a rope ( you know the ones made with natural fibers) Bear in mind that if you're doing it yourself, it takes a few attempts to get it into shape but then again, being natural hair, it doesn't have to have a sculptured look, you can always shape it any which way you want.

Phew! hope I made sense!!!

can i see ya picture :1087: sweat:

Whatever its called, so far one of the nicest always neat one i have seen is the one worn by Dakore, she wears it so well, it makes it attractive, some ppl wear it so messy and rastafarian like and i dont want it like that. Indie Arie had it really nice tooo at one point.
With locs, (i.e what Dakore has) it's permanent except you cut it off but with twists, it's temporary so if you get tired of that one style, all you need do is untwist and so something else!

will try and fish out my best twist picture :bouncy and load it for you to see; privately that is...

I am tired of all these relaxes, i am seriously thinking going natural, but not low cut natural, but twist like Dakore Egbuson's neat and nice twist.

I am so done with relaxed hair.

the thought of cutting my hair (which is about chin length) is scary:devil , but one of these days i'll just Britney Spears, take them shears and shed my hair.

Is anyone contemplating natural as well.

My mom thinks i shouldnt cos a womans pride and beauty includes her hair, am like, have twist will be my hair, Relaxed hair is NOT MY HAIR. I really truly admire Dakore's Natural hair. I dont think i am bold to go Joke Silva Style yet.

Does anyone h ere have natural hair, if so how long you had it and how is the maintenance, cos my main reason getting rid of my relaxed is the maintenance (i am sick of it) and also the hairs in my bathroom, i hate seeing hair in my bathroom sink (even my own) - i am always picking picking and cleaning my bathroom floor to get rid of lil hairs here and there.

And besides i see ppl with natural, hot comb it and it looks so beautiful like a relax.

aBEG i am going back to my african roots.sweat:

My sister it's not that easy. I have contemplated going natural several times, but when I think of how nappy it will be and always have to use the hot comb to get them manageable, it scares the crap out of me because, time is something I don't have. It really looks good on those who have it, but you need time to take care of that.

@ Tam-tam, will it end up looking like this? http://public.fotki.com/TalkingYam/kinky_chronicles/2007/summer-2007/img3521.html
What do you think she did to the ends of the twists?
Yes, if you want that size of twists. I usually do mine a lot thinner and as for the ends, you don't do anything; they just remain like that depending on the texture of your hair.

As for styles, you can also do a basket weave in front and twists behind or corn-row the front of your hair to about 2-3 inches and the rest will be twists... there are so many styles out there - that one in the picture is the most basic of all twists especially when you do it yourself.

To be honest, Goseiant, going natural is more a state of mind than anything else. just like cutting your hair, or changing your career etc. Once you get to that point where there is no going back, I tell you, you wouldn't hesitate to go natural but you have to find it in you; until then...

... until then you'll keep finding excuses not to go natural.

Lots of people are going natual these days....the relaxer really damages the hair...especially the front line if you want to go into braiding and other stuff while having the relaxer in the hair...as soon as you remove the braids there goes the front hair which ruins your looks also...I will rather the back of my hair gets ruin then the front....at least I can cover it with my hair but the front...na wa oo...my girlfriend actually has a motor way now and her hair refuses to grow....sis has done everything possible but to no vail...now she is contemplating going natural which actually looks good on her....Another alternative is to continue to weave the hair and just leave it like that for the next few years which will help grow back the hair and completely remove the relaxer.... Like some have said Akos, think about it and do whatever that pleases you....:)
