Poison, your comment on Yinka Quadri and Ogogo's English is way-off-the-mark. Are they English actors? These guys are Yoruba actors and they are good at that!!! I don't know when ability to speak English has become the yardstick for measuring success...............Na wa oh.:eeek :eeek
A person's inability to express himself in fluent english only goes to prove such person is uneducated! I understand if your parents can't afford to send you to school to get the basics, however when you start making money, there is absolutely nothing wrong if such people make it a point of duty to educate themselves.
You don't have to be an english actor to be able to express yourself in english.
Saheed balogun speaks pretty decent english. Dele Odule does, Jide Kosoko, Peter Fatomilola, Kola Oyewo, Pa kasumu, Bimbo Oshin, Yemi Sholade, Adebayo Salami, Shola Shobowale...etc. So please don't use the Yoruba actor limitations as an excuse to why Ogogo and Yinka Quadri have such a horrible grammatical prowess!

But why do we have to use another man's language to measure our level of education or literacy.
Isn't being fluid and fluent in one's own language enough?
Why do they have to be fluent in english?
Wetin concern them with the language of the colonialists?

English is most countries lingua franca so stop being hypocritical cos you yourself, you are typing in english. On an international level, we all rely on our ability to converse in english to interact with other people. I this day and age, it's rather shamefull if some peeps can't converse effectively in english. I know we all can't be on Uncle Wole Soyinka's level of grammatical prowess, however we need to criticize these celebs so they can check themselves. People take it for granted taht they don't need education and that's rather pathetic because when all is said and done and they become celebs like ogogo and co, waht do you tell kids who aspire to them?
