Let Genny do Genny... So the fuck what she doesn't work the the Ghanaian lady?! So!?! Let her do her... Not everyone wants to be Zoe Saldana...

Ebbe has been good and on US TV and movies loooonnng before The Tie That Binds... She was an accomplished great actor waaay before any of Lelia's movies.. Her time will come with or without The Tie That Binds... Hell Ebbe had a film at Cannes! Her own film!!.... She didn't need the Tie That Binds to be noticed....

I am sick and fucking tired of hearing about the how Genny should have worked with Lelia.. Is she the only director or movie maker out there?? Give me a fucking break... Omotola worked with her. Great!! Kimberly Elise too!? Awesome.. Ebbe too? Wonderful! Genny didn't... So!!?

Let Genny do Genny, let Ebbe do Ebbe, Omotola do Omotola.....

People before you all crucify Angela, take the time to read her post. She has made a lot of sense here, I mean all the sarcism and underlying insults aside, I agree with her. I'm not saying that Genny should abandon nollywood, but Desmond's directorial skills is mediocre at best. Emeng's productions are becoming monotonous. As for Ini as a producer, did you guys watch the movie with Ramsey, Nse and Ini herself, (i've forgotten the name of that movie), that was utter garbage. But anyways, I'm looking forward to this film. If you are looking for something to watch, why not go and buy "OUR WORLD"? . It features, Stephanie Okereke, Uche Jombo, Sam Loco Ife (RIP), Patience Ozorkwo, Ngozi Ezuenu, etc. I think that this movie is the best i've seen this year thus far.

Are you serious? If his words get any sexier than some of the words he'd already used in this thread,......Sola's website gonna have to be rated X.

Didn't you see above where Sola was practically begging for mercy?

Elisa, the 'Our World' movie, is it the one that Stephanie and uche's characters were retards or something like that? Cause I started to watch it (have the movie at home) but could not stand Uche also being a retard....her acting was just terrible and unbelievable. However, it appears to have a good storyline but Uche's part just ruined it for me.

apart from the insults and the bickering, I'm with Angela81 on this... Genevieve is at a level now where she shouldn't have to SETTLE for sub par roles in sub par movies. For me, Royal Arts has been a disappointment, I had such high hopes for that establishment when they first announced about their academy, I was expecting Isong to take the industry to that next level it deserves to be...but instead they keep churning out these movies that are not much better than other Nolly flicks....to me it just seems like they are making these movies just to have the glossy red carpet premiers...doesn't feel like they have the love for this artform....

You are a wise man or woman! In one word, from Eastern part of Naija when they agree with you on a statement with substance: KPOM!!

I don't understand this perturbed opinion that fame starts with Hollywood. Heck Genevieve has more fans in her fanbase than Kimberly Elise will ever dream of. Are you kidding?!! I have been saying this and I will continue to say it: Genevieve, you are a Nollywood legend! We don't need Genevieve to go Hollywood before we know her worth. Desmond Elliot is a very young director and he is still learning his trade so having Genny star in his movie will not ruin Genny's career but build Desmond's. She knows this! In Naija, we help each other in this trade (ask Yoruba movie watchers). So Genny is doing the right thing by acting in a Naija movie with a Naija director. To insinuate that she's committing a career suicide by working with Desomond is asinine insinuatation to malign an icon like Genevieve!

And as for Desmond Elliot, he has directed the likes of Nse, Ramsey, Stephanie, Rita, Majid, Ini, now Genevieve. Guilty Pleasure still remains a great movie and we still love it till this day. He will get better, definitely, because he has his head in the right place and he's working with the right people. Hope is not lost in Nollywood.

Clare-Hope Ashitey-- she worked with JULIANNE MOORE and CLIVE OWEN in ALFONSO CUARON's "CHILDREN OF MEN". Though, her performance was well criticized, the exposure gotten from the film is figuratively equal to multiple orgasms in a short time; the "who" is "who" in mainstream Hollywood saw CHILDREN OF MEN. Now, five years down the line, her IMDb link can be seen here Clare-Hope Ashitey - IMDb. What happened to Claire- Hope Ashitey biko? Could it be that there is so much a "hidden" talent can do than the "exposed" talent?

By the way, Bollywood's legend, AMITABH BACHCHAN who stayed in his industry to fix it if I may add, just did his first Hollywood film called THE GREAT GATSBY. It is so marveling and inspiring to read how a director like BAZ LUHRMANN became a fanboy because AMITABH BACHCHAN is on his set. Same set LEONARDO DICARPRIO is in. :s

GENEVIEVE, DESMOND, RAMSEY, INI, MONALISA and EMEM ISONG keep up the great job, we shall get there with persistence and perseverance. May the good LORD bless you all. Look forward to this.

This thread is the balm. Where have I been? lol :1087:. Genevieve Nnaji is a wordwide name at this point...and I have to agree with those who are saying Desmond Elliot has little to offer her. Any Nollywood producer who can make better movies --just a little better--than what was being made 6,7 years ago (the days of Love After love, All my Life, Blood Sisters) has my respect. I am not saying these were the best films ever made. BUT they had a following. Desmond Elliot's movies do not even touch those from back in the day. I don't know who she should be working with, but certainly not Desmond. Did he direct Guilty Pleasures by the way? I just can't put my finger on what is keeping the same people who made this industry great from going back to the drawing board to chart a better way forward. WHAT IS IT? I have racked my head many times....
