And tonto expects us to compare hollywood's nudity to this dirty, tasteless soft porn that they do. I was watching one a while ago (forbidden fruit) and if my dad had walked in, it would be hard convincing him that i didnt set out to bring in a porn movie to watch. I just find her twitter statement dumb and hilarious.

Even if hollywood does such does that mean we should follow suit?
Whatever happened to our societal mores and values to make people want to engage in such distasteful nonsense in the name of so called modernity.
The sooner this unpleasantness is done away with the better.

Please! What the fack is social Mores! Stay on ur high horse nd let us valueless Nigerians do what we want. The social mores agrgument is LAME! I think this movie is shit by the way and it has nothing to do with Social values or whatever the fack you guys r calling it these days. Social values.....haha. thats laughable, so Hollywood does not have social values. According to my friend "some people are so scared of nudity that if they saw themselves naked, they'll die" There is a huge difference between showing nude people in a movie or even sex scenes and soft core porn, and neither of them have anything to do with the social values of your imaginary Nigeria.

hahahahahaha
i feel your frustration.
sometimes i sit and wonder if it is not the same nigeria where old men are raping young babies and getting away with it, with no fear of retribution or punishment, what happened to the SENATOR who married a 13 yr old baby, where was his social more? where was our social more?

please! as far back as secondary school i remember quite a number of girls who were bathed in "blue" powder because they were caught doing the nasty or whatever with each other.

i understand that we don't want softcore porn thrown in our faces in almost every movie, (heck my sensibilities are offended when i see tonto almost swallow people's tongues/mouths) but we gotta admit to ourselves that what is going on in the movies is actually happening in everyday life.

with that said, i do so hope that they'll tone it down though. it is getting to be PG-21.

The one thing that is laughable here is the rudeness of your repsonse.
Valueless nigerians? Your words not mine.
I'll leave the pondering of hollywood's values or lack of them to you.

Nudity or porn? Who mentioned either? Have the goodness to address what has been specified rather than shooting in all directions.

There are a million ways to disagree and to put your point across, being downright rude is not one of them.

Moving on, no one has painted nigeria as a utopia of some sort, the heinous crimes mentioned in a previous post do not mean that we are devoid of any morality.

So what do these values, include then? For one a media which for the most part is free from overt sexualisation, which is in no way a bad thing considering its influence and reach in society today, especially among the young.

i still dont know wat males wearing USA colorful thongs got to do with professionalism? i guess takesyles wud label it necessary.
I see you are looking for my trouble. Either that, or you skipped the reading comprehension classes at school.

When did I say that ANYTHING was "necessary"? What I said was that it was EFFECTIVE, because as much as you hypocrites will wail and moan and complain, you'll still go and watch the movie.

African people and their hyperbole... Calling this a "soft porn" film! Do you people even know what soft porn is? I don't know about the movie itself but I haven't seen anything in this trailer that would go beyond an R rating in the US.

Granted, the movie looks terrible and the sex scenes are laughable, but it there's nothing "porn" about it.

Sometimes I think you hypocrites are secretly hoping for the emergence of an African porn scene, which is why you are quick to promote the simply racy to "pornographic."

akuko, listen, i am not good with thread searching on this site but the silly point u have been dragging on and on on tht thread was tht nothing is unnecessary where art is concerned. and that is exactly what i applied here. and this has nothing to do with hypocrisyl. trashy is trashy and tht is wat tht movie is, TRASHY.

I said nothing is unnecessary... and nothing is necessary either.

It either works or doesn't work.

If you are going to quote me, do so correctly.

That is all I ask.

but i quoted u right. nothing is unnecessary and nothing is necessary = u can pretty much do anything trashy or not and get awa with it by calling it an art per ya statement. which is exactly my point. so, i still quote u right.
