UPDATED: The actor was shooting "Fast & Furious 7" for Universal and also was starring in the upcoming "Brick Mansions" and "Hours."

Paul Walker, best known for his role in the hit Fast and the Furious movies, died Saturday afternoon in a car accident in Valencia, Calif. He was 40.

TMZ was the first to
report the news of his death. The L.A. County Coroner's Office told The Hollywood Reporter that two unidentified males were involved in a fatal accident on Saturday but could not confirm that one of them was Walker. She had yet to make it to the scene.

The L.A. County Sheriff's Department
tweeted that the crash happened around 3:30 p.m. in the 28300 clock of Rye Canyon Loop.
According to TMZ, Walker was in his new Porsche GT when the single-car accident happened. The car reportedly burst into flames. It's unclear who was driving.

Walker was reportedly in the area, just north of Los Angeles, for a car show to support the Philippines typhoon relief effort.

Walker was shooting his role as Brian O'Conner in Universal's
Fast & Furious 7 for director James Wan. The movie had recently begun filming in Atlanta and was set to move to Abu Dhabi in January. The seventh film in the blockbuster action franchise has been slotted to hit theaters July 11, 2014.

He also was starring in the upcoming
Brick Mansions, which is in postproduction. The film, from EuropaCorp and Relativity Media, is an English-language remake of the French action movie District B13.
His Hurricane Katrina drama Hours is due out in theaters Dec. 13.

Wow... Even fame can't save you when death comes calling... Liked the guy. Not a deep actor, but good for the role he played in that franchise.
