so, i finally saw the much talked about movie; girl's cot. i actually saw it a while ago but have not been able to comment as i havent had internet aaccess in a while, but i'm back now. sleep dey catch me and i really shouldbe in bed but i will quickly give my opinion.

the opening was way too long and BTW Genny and Ini looked not like people who were beeing chased. there was no urgency in their moods; there was nothing save the music score and perhaps ini's expression [which is old and tired by the way] to suggest that anything as serious as a chase was happening. it was annoying.

the story succeeded in boring me and those with whom i saw it. but the girls all looked nice in their diff gerrups. i especially liked Genny's dressing and ofcourse Rita's. ini wore some nice clothes as well but her bum doesnt make things sit nicely on her; however since no be she create am, i might as well let it go. and uche jombo? i think she felt a bit challenged and decided to give her role her best shot cos she did put in a visible effort. she no do badly. but if she would tone her body a bit, her clothes wouldlook berrer on her.

as for Benny, she had no biz being in that flick. no beef for her but her character was totally needless esp as it wasnt explored. she was just what scriptwriters would call 'wall paper'. she and her partner both.

but em...the costumeer....was she the one who gave them thier clothes or were the stars allowed to dictate what they wanted to wear? cos i think that in a movie, the costumeer suppose to carry script, read am and determine what suits each character for what time period etc, esp as when a discovery period exists in the movie where the characters would be expected to dress differently. becasue i cant understand why rita who was supposed to have been a poor girl at some point [Benny's xter referred to her as being poverty stricken] was dressed in those beautiful clothes even before sophistication had come her way. and said Benita wasnt dressed up to meet her own personal standard as rita was looking even better than the former when the insult was thrown her way. the whole thing was just one kine. i think it was a case of 'na who get better cloth pass?' i sincerely dont think that a costumeer was employed on that set. gbam.

as for the almighty Genny...all i can say is that she looked like she's using a very good make up range; she looked nice in almost if not all of her close-ups. she looked healthy and very fit the way she carried herself. there's something about having toned musscles; it puts a spring in ur steps and i saw that in miss Nnaji. oh, and her black is getting more beautiful. MY Mbaise sista...carry on jare! But as per her acting? i think it was a bit too heavily laid on. whther na to convince some say na she be the mama of acting o, or na to upstage the other girls o...i sha didnt agree with the over-do. allegra, oya...faya.

In contrast I think rita did a good job, esp with the restaurant scene. not a word yet her message was passed across well. but what was that one night stand scene worth with that lousy pajamas that Dominic's xter was wearing? and the freaking hair net? she was supposed to be a sexy chikala...so what the heck was that? oh...and the lesbian angle; well....it was made believable by the two actresses involved.

yes o...who gave that Genny's boyfriend cream to be using? the boy is getting lighter. anyway, that na BTW. i hink he's a lousy actor and there was absolutely no chemistry between him and Nnaji. was it her or his fault? no idea here but hey; they struck me as totlly unbelievable together. it was so unreal it was funny.

Uche's bobo na fine boy; and he speaks well. i like the tone of his voice too. in short, i don dey fall in love. lol. goodluck to him sha in this business; he will go far if given the opportunity.

on the matter of Gucci/Gushi re: Ini, i sincerely want to believe that there were a number of pple on that set including director and co who would have corrected her if she was speaking as her true self. this therefore brings me to conclude that she was just interpreting a role. now, having said that, i do not think that the type of girl that ini's xter was supposed to be would've made that kind of mistake esp as no be today she enter school. she go don talk am many times and wouldve been corrected by her friends somehow. in short sha, that Gushi thingy was just unnecessary. and if it is truly the case that ini's xter had to say Guchi for the purpose of drama, then was the same also true for uche's xter? was that unforgivable blunder a deliberate move? nah...i ddntthink so! dat one na pure and simple bullet!!

anyway sha, the story was altogether watery and the director's interpretation of some scenes, outright hogwash [does anyone remember that party scene that was supposed to have 'distinguished pple' there? what did it look like to you? crap!] and i sincerely believe that there are several other things that can be the premise of a movie other than that which we saw in GC. ehen...and that ending was a cheap attempt at intrigue; it smacked of rush-rush to the end and not much more. in all; the movie may have been crap, but it was good for it's photo-album quality. at least it didnt lose out on both counts!

I disagree !!!!!!!!!!!!

Ini Edo's character was a low life thief trying to be a big girl in the movie...it was obvious from the way she seemed to idolise Genny's character the moment she entered the room ....it does make perfect sense for her to say Gushy instead of Gucci !!
She tried to steal Genny's shoes or some item and was caught.

She obviously came from humble beginings ...so it would not be out of place for her to not know the correct pronounciation of an italian designer .....and I also tested an NR member here on her knowledge of designer names(Pierre Cardin)and she fell flat on her face . So why is it an anomaly ?

My siggy is still there as a lesson !!

The story line is WACK. HOLLA

I saw it yesterday and i must first say that it had nothing to do with 'womens cot" or any occultic movie at that. I dont know why they even named it "Girls Cot".

Produced by: Sylvester Obadigie
Directed by; Afam Okereke

starring: Genevieve Nnaji, Rita Dominic, Ini Edo, Uche Jombo, Benita Nzeribe

The movie: It revolved around some girls in the university and the odds and the levels they go to make a living. They are conniving, smart, connected and not to be trusted. Genevieve plays the role of Queen the supposed vice president's daughter who lives on campus just like every girl, attends big parties and trades her friends to men. I liked the Genny i saw in this flick and i missed that very believable acting of hers. She is now slim and very sexy and trendy. She obviously stole the shine of other girls and the only person who gave me something was Rita Dominic. Ini was cool too and so was Benita and Uche.

They wine and dine with the high and mighty, have the best results in skool......over all i feel its cool, Genny super touch worked for the movie and i had fun.

There is a bad news though..ITS IN THREE PARTS!....Each parts has only one disc each.

Aight movie, wasn't that good or was it that bad............... it ain't all that. As a matter of fact.Storyline over and over again repeated.

Good thing, those gurls dressed good.

Girls Cot

I have been doing some catching up with my homvies and just got through watching Girls Cot

Girls Cot features Nnaji, Edo, Jumbo and Dominic

In my opinion this was a well written movie with a surprising twist at the end. Although I think this should have been called Vice President's Daughter. This is because the main character, Queen, played brilliantly by Nnaji , claims to be the daughter of the Vice President and this happens for the most part of the movie. Queen moves into the hostel and becomes roommates with three other young ladies ( cant remember all their names ) who come from poor backgrounds. She wins the ladies over with her lavish lifestyle and lures them into the social elite circle, introducing them to important people in society.

Fast forward to the plot of the movie, Queen intends to capitlize on their "runs". The girls give in to the plan and get involved in prostitution and blackmailing political figures, professors , etc.

Meanwhile unknowingly to her roommates ( who have now all moved into a mansion provided by Queen) Queen is inolved with one of her Sugar daddy's sons, who for some reason was disowned by his father. He tries to get even with his father through Queen who uses one of her roommates( Ini Edo's xter) to steal N25 million worth of gold from him ( are you still with me ).

Anyway one thing leads into another and chaos ensues when Queen's boyfriend ends up cheating on her with Edo's xter...

Turns out that Queen's motive throughout the movie was to drag someone's name in the mud because of a promise she made to her mother 22 years ago..

It is definetely an entertaining movie and yes it comes in 3 parts. Yes it could have been made in two parts but it was still a good watch.

The costumes, hair and make up were impressive.
I recommend this one.
