Gist From Terh Agbedeh in Lagos:

Multi talented Movie producer, writer and evangelist Helen Ukpabio has had it rough with the Nigerian Video Film And Censors Board NVFCB in recent times. A movie she presented to them for close to one year now has still not been released. Add to that the fact that the case is pending in court and you will get a frustrated woman. But Ukpabio is far from frustrated. She has just presented the board with a recently completed work but they have refused to look at it, much less put it in the market. The mother of three and evangelist whose church has over 60 branches undeniably seeks justice. But wouldn’t it also do to take a close look at her movies. There might be something the board sees that she does not.

It is definitely personal. How can a movie presented to the board be refused screening outright?
Dis wan no be abuse of power?
What is the reason given by the board that made them refused to look at the movie?

Not really. This was a long time ago. I was in Naija then. From info I gathered, the movie paints a negative catholic picture. So if Mrs Rosaline Odeh is a devout catholic and was then the Censors boss, how can such a film be approved?

At least they should tell her and let her know what she is doing wrong. And how are they so sure that the new movie she is presenting has the same content.

Just kidding. There's nothing wrong with producing religious moves, but she should at least try and be versatile.
Anyway, I won't watch her movies again.

I'm with you on this one, and maybe her movies annoys them because it kind of rubs them on the wrong side.

The name sounds familiar. I think I've seen that movie, but no longer remember what it's about.

She produced a movie in 2000 called "RAPTURE" with RMD, Olu Jacobs and the rest. That was where her problem with censors board started. they wanted her to remove some scenes which she refused saying they cost so much to put together. Back then Rapture cost 7 million to put together and had about 2000 cast.

I saw the movie. Nice movie too. No witchcraft, no juju, and no binding of demon.

If na she do the movie, then it is far from her usual demonic power in high places.

This movie was about the temptations married couples go through, something like that i think. Uk was the wife to RMD and so so-----; can't remember anymore.

The movie was good, Med i think u'll like it.

Helen has her style and i think the board should have known that by now.they should come out to the open with the real reason for not screening rapture, come to a middle ground and then get it released. helen should be ready to give some grounds too if the board is right in some areas. both of them shouldn't be myopic.

But she should have the right to produce movies that you and I don't like.
If her movies are disliked, they won't sell. That's punishment enough, isn't it?

she has a right to make her movies. if people dont like it, they shouldn't buy it.
