Folks,
There is a difference between people who know where they are going and others who do not? I saw Chinese footballers about 2 years ago training with Bercalona FC in Spain and on enquiry, was informed that they paid FCB to understudy their training for two seasons. Same move also with Real Madrid i heard and if you check maybe other major European and South American soccer clubs. What do you think would be happening to Chinese soccer in a few years to come?

And so? If they have time for it, why shd that bother you? I mean if you were in their shoes where NOTHING works, and for them they believe that turning to a higher power would make things work nko? ....Abeg!

Sidney I be your broda-o..lol

anyway true talk...my last trip to naija I met a bunch of peeps that go to church almost everyday of the week...left me wondering when these people find time for anything else like school or work...Naijas don take church worship to anode level

@ highlighted - thanks Kaymama - we are talking from a perspective and a country where we are at, where things work! You turn on the light, it responds. Water comes out of your tap...Unless you KNOW people in naija, NOTHING, and I mean nothing works...if they want to turn to a higher power to get things done, who are we sitting in the diaspora to blame them? Hiss!

ERRRMM esekoose me O, Even Dr. Phil would've said 'how's that working for you'? Actually, I heard they started 3 mos earlier, but anything under 2 years is a joke. These athletes live and breathe this stuff 24/7. It is engrained into their fiber. Right now, China is winning, you know why? When someone shows promise, parents send them away to camp from when they're 7yrs old, and families say 'he/she is no longer our child, he/she serves a greater purpose and no longer belongs to us anymore'. I read that somewhere and I said, wow, no wonder these Chinese folks are kicking tail everywhere. And I don't think they pray, at least not to the same God. Faith without works is DEAD, just like TEAM NAIJA!! Abegi!!

My brother, Let them be praying and fasting abeg, I mean what do you want people to do? They no get jobs, schools is always on strike, the only place open is 24/7 church, what would you have them do?

Why does NOTHING work? you'll probably say the government...no be the people elect their government?

In a society that claims to be highly religious why is it still the most corrupt in the world, you can't get anything done without bribing somebody..in all aspects of society. The powers that be will not do anything to curb low level corruption because they don't want the people to turn on them for all their big time thievery. Maybe all this religious fervor nah just for show.

Of course the govt. supports these religious institutions because they help teach the masses to be docile, teach them that "wait and see" attitude...your reward is in heaven...meanwhile the govt. is robbing the nation blind with no one paying any mind.

During the occupy Nigeria protest, I had hope that the people were ready to change the satus quo, like the Arabs have been doing of late....but that was short lived...then it was back to religion to get that magic fix that's never coming. So excuse me if i put "some" of the blame on religion for helping foster a nation of docile masses.

You're not excused. You have a nation of docile people because NO ONE IS READY TO DIE FOR ANYTHING THEY BELIEVE IN, period. That is if they believe in anything. Even all the religion is a front - a facade. No one will die for their faith in Nigeria. So how is it the fault of the religion? The fact is anyone can blame anything for the societal issues. It only takes a little imagination.

Your culture - long before religion - encourages you not to question your elders and "masters", so when they steal you dry and abuse you, you look elsewhere. Your total social conditioning says 'roll-over' when they kick you down. Long before Islam or Christianity became pervasive. All the cultural checks and balances have been destroyed by the need for greed. Above all, conspicuous consumption by your so-called leaders, all rigged in, fuels more salivating after what you cannot afford. Your leaders make corruption cool, worthy of aspiration. They make confusion and directionlessness normal and one working Governor in Lagos state appears to be a saint. You frustrate the people so much - they cannot run to the cops or courts for help because they know justice has a price - so they adopt what you call 'siddon look' attitude, which is the same thing as placing their fate in the hands of the Other, and then you complain they go to church or mosque or look to the supernatural. No be una drive dem dia in the first place? If you gave them answers to their problems, would they be looking elsewhere for solutions? Abeg Kala, no get me going this afternoon o. Dis na serious book you want make I write o...

Look, in order for things to be right in that country, there must be bloodshed, People must die for the cause, both on the civilian side and on the government side. The corrupt leaders must be taken out otherwise, they will just continue to 'drop the opposition' like flies. unfortunately, though the average life in Naija is that of despair, no one I mean NONE are willing to risk that life of despair in order to elevate the country. We are here abroad where life is great compared to the average Nigerian, it's quite easy to criticize, and pass judgement. It will take the masses, there and abroad, major sacrifice, and a complete paradigyme change to get the country back on track. It will take a revolution.

KO!! I say KO!! Come and wave ya flag for K-Max face o!!
This reminds me of a Yoruba saying that goes (in pidgin) "when big surferness put your back for ground small surferness go climb on top you." In other words, kick a man while he is down. So Kaymax can keep stomping on us. Another one goes "the mirror cannot change your image when you look in it, what you see in the mirror is you." In other words, our performance mirrors our society. On this, I can't fault Kaymax. But I still maintain USA was lucky to beat us by 83 point spread. Nobody in their right mind would have thought that. Not USA players. Not even Las Vegas!

He was not lying, and I don't fault him for anything. I read about it on LindaIkeji's blog and there were some who actually faulted him for what he said, I don't. TMZ wants its ratings and the kid went to the Olympics. If he does not identify as Nigerian, I don't care. He played in a non-traditional Nigerian sport and that's good enough for me.

Oh really? Why don't you go back to spearhead the movement. They are so docile in Naija because they choose to be abi. Abeg too much suffering dey that country they need some kind of diety to believe in. We can sit here and talk all we want while we have our basic needs met; it's really really difficult back home. Hope is very important even when all else is out of reach, you want to take hope from the people too? There is really no point complaining when you can't help in any way, shape or form.

I will complain cos' I think I can help...I'm going back to spearhead the movement of self reliance...I'm going back as Morpheus(Matrix) to show people the real world behind the veil of "Time will tell" mentality. My complaining on this forum or any other is part of my grande plan of spreading my message of looking inward...I'm also tired of people telling me I can't complain because i cant do anything about it...that's part of our problem, too many quiet people at home and abroad.
