Just seen it. Hmmmmm, na wa o... for real this 'Confusion Na Wa' is a silly film too.

Ok a guy accidentally drops his phone... some crooks pick it up - that's the only thing 'real' in the film all the rest of it is ridiculously stupid BS.

Before you read any further answer this - What would YOU do the moment you find out your phone has been lost or stolen?

Guy doesn't have a password lock on his phone? Guy doesn't report his phone stolen? Guy doesn't get it blocked? Guy doesn't have his contacts backed up? Guy agrees to pay... wait for it... N115K for a phone that isn't even worth jack just because he has contacts on it and he has been sleeping with some 'other' woman. And the rest of the film is the extremely lazy 'coincidental events' type of writing that we're so good at... oh please, what a load of rubbish.
Then to add 'time fillers' that aren't even funny like "If you break a window it means you are homosexual". Or you walk up to any man in a 'joint' with zero proof and say "Why are you chopping my wife?" Or the daft comedic relief of 'dashing' a man 4 or 5 slaps in a row (make una see we fit do SFX)... no Nigerian man will stand there and take that shit in HIS OWN HOUSE from a stranger that is not holding a gun or knife.

Enough of this rubbishing of Nigerian women and girls as all being sluts. Is that the only way we think of them? Well maybe because we Nigerian men in 'general' are such useless dogs that we have to see our females as being the same in every film (every film must have a cheating wife or raped woman as a sub-plot)... yeah, whatever!

The start of the film will fool you with the very good scene with the 'Lion King' dialogue... and get you thinking "Yes an intellectual film at last"... Well they must have stolen that from somewhere because there is no way on earth the same writers descended into the mind-numbingly dumb stuff that makes up the rest of the film.

CAN'T A FILM BE MADE THAT HAS A COMPLETELY BELIEVABLE CHAIN OF EVENTS?? Is that too much to ask?

WTF?!! Sorry for my language people but this is becoming very annoying!

Choi!!! You finished the film ooo. I liked it though. Yes so many co-incidental occurrences that seemed a bit unrealistic but then I thought that was what the director was aiming at. The very flaccid moments in life that can be somewhat feel very surreal. Some of the acting was weak (especially Ali Nuhu). I had seen but load of crap and I was just excited to see something that felt different.

And the other issues you had with it, all i can say is ROLFLMAO!!!!

No worries my broda. I've also seen many bad films that I totally liked because of the excitement. Most of the films I see at the premiere or a festival I tend to like - even if they are bad. Shebi, na me like 'Last Flight' pass everyone... not yet brought myself to watch it a 2nd time because I won't like it.
But when I can sit at home and chop plantain chips with 'alacrity & impunity' lol the film I dey watch go hard impress pass chips nah!

I dey fear watch 'Phone Swap' again because I loved it but it's really as silly as this one abi?

Yes 'The Meeting' can be watched a thousand times and still be that good.
Seen HOAYS twice now, it will never be 'great' to me but it's not bad. It still didn't blow me away, same as when I first saw it last yr. Still pref 'Mother Of George' (even though it's a slow film).

I think the problem with HOAYS is, it lacked soul. It has everything. Amazing performances, amazing cinematography, set design, costumes and a decent score. It just lacked soul and that made it hard to connect despite all it's accomplishment.

I was hugely intimidated by the sheer brilliance of Mother of George. To be able to take an overdone story like that and make it into something like that....

The only issue I had was I found it hard to believe the lead female was yoruba because of her bad yoruba but boy, she knocked me off with her performance so I forgave that even. HOAYS and MOG are in different classes though. And I won't even knock one over for one. Both great movies in their own rights.

You've hit the nail on the head 'HOAYS lacked soul'. It is understandable that good speakers of the Yoruba language will have an issue with the lead female in MOG; the height of mine is a few sentences here and there so it didn't really bother me. I agree with you on it being an all round intimidating film by the sheer brilliance - it truly is a master class in filmmaking.

Ok, I've seen it. For those of you that are interested it is on Iroko TV.

Absolutely hated it. A waste of a loooooong 2.5hrs. Worst 'Bollywood' film EVER!!! I'm certain now that at least 90% 'New' Nollywood films are worse than old 'Alaba' films. This falls into the mega-junk bin that includes Flower Girl oops, sorry... 'Ewedu Baby'. Hissssssss!!

Hahahahaha nor be only 'Ewedu baby' na 'Banga borngirl':knuck
