do you need to completely finetune your scripts?
I use about 4 drafts to do that.
On Bitter Sweet script i used 3 because i had no time to do the fourth due to production time.

Depends on the story. SOme stories are tougher than others and you just gloss over some scenes knowing you will be dealing with the problem scenes in a new draft. Minimum of three drafts though. If the director wants a change, or actor, I may do some more work. When I wrote for village headmaster and other TV shows, I wrote just 2 drafts per script.

He means how many versions before you think it is produceable.

By drafts,i meant "versions"(as Sola already called them)
You write an entire script the first time, then you go over it,making adjustments, finetuning, removing some scenes and adding new ones.Change dialogues here and there etc.
Each time you do that to the end,it is a draft.
