Hey yall. I am trying to make some meatpie but can not for the life of me get the dough right. After baking, the dough comes out hard. Can anyone give me pointers. Everything seems perfect except that my dough is hard.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. I have surfed the web sooootaaayyyy, e don tire me.

Come to think of it, Oga Sola, Vince, Bigmomma and Nkechi what do you think about a column for nigerian recipes ( based on group concensus of course). NR family do y'all think its a good idea?

Maybe the butter or margarine wasn't enough!

Ingredients: Flour, margarine/butter, salt, nutmeg, egg, corned beef/Tuna, tomatoes, onions, baking powder, and a little pepper to taste. You can also add a little garlic depending on the individual.

Preparation: Mix flour, baking powder and margarine in a bowl. Add nutmeg and throw in an egg for more richness. Some people like to add the salt to the flour before adding water. You can also add the salt to the water and add about quarter of a small cup to the mixture and mix it into a pulp. Put it in the fridge to cool off while you prepare the corned beef stew or Tuna.

Beat about two eggs together in a bowl and set it aside. Take the dough from the fridge and cut into small pieces, roll them out and put some of the stew in the middle and seal it with some of the egg in the bowl, then use a fork to press the ends togethter and you can make about three holes with the fork on the dough and smear some extra egg on the dough before baking it. I hope this helps you. Happy baking!

Let's say if you take about 500g of flour, use about 250 to 300g of butter - and just one sachet of baking powder. All the best!
