'Ije' draws crown in Jos

IJe, a 35mm cine production by a US-based young Nigerian Filmmaker, Chineze Anyaene, had a sneak preview in Jos, Plateau State recently. The film features Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Ekehinde.

According to a statement by the Nigeria Film Corporation, the film preview drew a large crowd to their screening room. Ije, was partly shot in the United States and in Nigeria.

Satisfied with the outcome of her film production at the premiere, Anyaene, who was the producer and director of the work, said she was grateful to the Nigerian Film Corporation for the equipment and technical support extended to her during the film shoot. The film maker, praised the NFC for providing the needed industry support for film makers.

Film makers, especially Nigerian film makers in the Diaspora, she said, have been following the successes recorded within the Nigerian film industry. This, she noted, explains why film makers around the world are now eager to partner Nigerian operators in the sector from script-to-screen.

Chief executive of NFC, Mr. Afolabi Adesanya commended the production, saying that indeed better days are ahead for the Nigerian film industry. He praised Anyaene for having the courage to embark on the production, assuring that the Nigerian Film Corporation will not shy away from her responsibility of supporting assisting film makers whose work(s) stand not so as to bolster the nation’s profile as a film production destination as well as boost the nation’s creative economy.
