Ogonna, that is why investing in a short informercial for a film is important. Instead of abusing and banning your actors, recruit them to help with post production sales. Don't just go to idumota on Monday, dump your products on the cheapest format and expect not to be pirated. As you say the people have to be sensitized. Now, if a producer does well, don't expect to pay the same thing you paid 2 years ago. The wealth must filter to everybody in the film production set including the waka passes. The public may not be swayed immediately but it is a long term journey.
Well, nowadays that Nigerian designers actually charge a premium for their stuff putting it at par price-wise with Western designer stuff, I am certain that Nigerians can be sensitized to pay a premium for quality.

The Silverbird Galleria has inspired quite a number of 'me-too' competitors. There's the Lagos City Mall at Onikan and at least two others under construction at Lekki - all will incorporate big screens. Silverbird is also building in Abuja and the Dome will soon have a cinema as well.

Now is it not possible to talk with the developers to install digital video projectors in their cinemas? Let's face it -snob appeal is a major part of marketing in Nigeria. if you can get the ajebota crowd to come to a toney mall/cinema to watch Nigerian movies, you are half-way through to the premium market.

I have to say, having found out that Dove is connected to redeemed, my initial optimism has turned to pessimism and anger. Here we bloody go! The Christian right is about to take over. Soon the actresses will be stopped from wearing make-up, trousers, earrings and all the movie plots will be about their interpretation of the Bible.

These evangelical establishments are businesses as far as I am concerned. They are not churches in the true sense of the word. Their pastors are richer than small african countries.

Now one is caught in a quandary..illiterate marketers or the Christian right? I think I still want the marketers around in that case. Daft as they are, they will still bring out the movies I enjoy watching. If only they could get rid of this ban business and put the proper actresses on show for us to enjoy.

I will not be happy until a PROPER media house starts distributing nollywood movies. Lets keep Jesus in the Church and entertainment in the entertainment industry. I am not saying we shouldn't have christian movies but we will be inundated with them by the time Dove is through if they are connected to Redeemed. Oh dear!

I may have to say a few Novenas against this clear and present threat:) I think the best option is to get producers backed by private investors because without that, writers will have their scripts changed to suit the policy of redeemed. I see redeemed as a terrorist organisation without the indiscriminate violence. It is a mental and psychological terrorist group. That's my opinion. If there are any redeemed members here who love their raves that they call church service, my apologies but please beg ya people to leave nollywood. Thank you.
You somehow have a point there but i dont think they would stop actors from dressing the way they like, with their movies i have seen i think they dont stop love scenes but i guess there has to be an extent but still all we need is for Dove Media to come in and take Nollywood to another level, others would come as soon as they see Dove's success, of course we dont expec Dove to do it alone, someone has to take the first step which is what Dove Media is doing so instead of saying all these, why dont you lets pray that it works well so that so many great investment companies would come in and before you say"Pum", we are already telling a success story but all in all i think Dove Media isnt being too religious in their laws, not at all, most of their films arent even xtian films at all.

I hope so MW. I don't want them to start disturbing producers because of traditional movies. I really love those traditional movies that involve chief priests, oracles etc. That shows our African identity. I don't want Dove to start saying those movies glorify the devil cos we'll simply start boycotting them if they're only marketing christian movies. Have you any idea how onsided and boring those christian movies can be? They're so predictable that you can tell the whole story formt he start of the movie.

Girl I believe in industry growth not just personal growth. I am very free with info even though a lot of people are not the same with me. We need to grow this industry. What God has set aside for me will be mine... nothing in life is accidental, every human being that comes in to your life serves a purpose and vice versa. As they say do your very best at what you love and the universe will align to help you achieve it....

I understand your concern, but right now I believe we (Nollywood fans) are like beggers (not literally). We have no choice but to support any other distribution network, as long as it liberates Nollywood from those marketers. However, I hope we're not trading one dictatorial group for another.
Sorry i hit the button by mistake

Isn't that typical.. one person starts something everyone falls in line and most of the time without creativity. I liked that Onikan theater had a lot of parking. Ajebotas can kiss my ...

You are right but time would tell, with the look of things if the movie is good i think they would market it, "Across the Niger" is somehow cultural although not epic but marketed by same Dove Media, i think all they are after is a great quality work, i have watched their interviews and they say the door is opened to every talented producers, just that some of their works maybe xtian flicks not all. Like Abeni which is coming soon from Tk is purely a love film and has nothing do with Xtianity, so is Before sun rise which is about Love. Dugbe Dugbe by Bukky wright is about cultism while Family On Fire by Tade Ogidan is about a young man who deals with cocaine and uses his illiterate Grandma as a camouflage but soon meets his waterloo when his innocent grandma gets caught. So i believe once the movie is good, xtian or no xtian they would market.
