i have serious shrinkage. my hair will not stretch like that.
Thank you Ladies. there is nothing as having the same thickness of hair from root to end. this is something I never experienced untill i went natural. Yes, I had really long straight hair but it was definitely far from healthy.

I was tired of flat-ironing my hair and since pool season is coming up, I decided to do the two-strand twist and I love it. I'm finally glad I was able to find something for my hair, and it is natural. Plus I can style it whichever way in its twisted form.

Henna treatment helps my shrinkage..and the thread option by Tam-Tam.

another thing I've seen in youtube is blowdry stretching...but I hate heat on my hair.

Lastly, bantu knots help my hair stretch as well.

Abeg, I can't see youtube where I am - how does Henna treatment help with shrinkage?
BB. Henna applicaton forms a coating on your hair (thats why the effect dies with multiple washes)..this coating makes your strands heavier resulting in loosening of your curls and your hair pattern tend to hang lower. I have experienced this, but lets not forget that natural hair is like pregnancy..everyone has their own experiences .

thank you jare.
i think its just ignorance. when they hear natural hair, they envision people running around with uncombed hair.
or they are so firmly entrenched in the belief that to look good your hair must be flat and straight.

It is so appropriate, it is all about presentation!

OK, you guys talked me into the natural thingy, now i'm tired of it. I have a little 'fro' don't know what to do with it, I've twisted, coiled, and conditioned to no end. I do not want to waste my only day off sitting for 12 hours to braid, just to have the edges fall off, so any suggestions?

just rock the 'fro na.
or leave it twisted for a while.
if your hair is in that inbetween stage ...just rock the fro.
get you some nice hair accessories and play with it.

can't even remember the last time i wore braids, it's been a while.

Ok, I will have to try that. Your hair looks great though so why are you talking as if you know my predicament? LOL

I feel your pain Kay. I am waiting for the day that I finally get the trick that makes my natural hair easier to maintain. I like how it looks but then get bored after two days of twisting at night and un twisting in the morning. LOL at TM not understanding your predicament. Some women just wear natural hair effortlessly. They don't understand some some of us need a little help. My curly fro extentions is back in for now. I have even considered straigtening my hair. Runs and hides

you want to relax it? or use a straightening comb? my dear whatever works for you. we'll still love you no marra how your hair looks :)

bwahahaha i just don't tell y'all about my bad hair days. i've been known to just wet my hair, put some coconut oil ($5 from walmart) comb it out and call it a day.

LOL, you better run and hand, after you people convinced me to go where I've not been in a long while, now you want the easy way out, thunda will faya your yansh there. You will suffer just like me, and yes, the twisting before going to bed and the untwisting, and the grease, so greasy!! I will say I like my softer hair thought, and it is healthier, I rarely see any breakage other than the shedding of hair, and I don't even get that many. It looks like my hair took to it easily, (perhaps it's the years of neglect LOL)! Anyhow, I will try the hair accesories, though I thin why TM suggested that, she had talked to BlackPearl and they've both consipired to have me looking like Ini Edo with the hair thingys when all is said and done. I don't like accessories in my hair, looks to girly! LOL

Yes, you posted a pic of your hair a couple of months ago, it was beautiful and healthy looking. No, I don't want to relax, I haven't relaxed in years, don't intend on going back. I want to braid, but you know what they do to your edges, I'd be right back where I started a couple of months ago. I saw a really cute style at publix last week, but I had to get some smoked turkey wings, (they always run out), and by the time, I got those and looked around, I couldn't find her to ask what it was. They were neatly twisted, but they had this sheen, almost like a 'finish' if you will, to them. They just looked so healthy, pretty, transitional, neat, all the above.
