A new wave of sexuality has hit Nollywood, knocking down conventional norms, long held cultural taboos, and societal and traditional expectations that had for long defined man-woman relationships within the African societies. The wave is so strong that those who hitherto, had decided to sit on the face, have been swept up by the tidal waves of this new experiment and are now openly professing their love and affiliation for this lifestyle. They no longer hide in the closets.

According to our extensive investigations, lesbianism has always been a part of the entertainment industry the world over, and Nollywood, was thus, not going to be an exception. There were some whispering campaigns in the past about certain actresses who were said to be enjoying intimacy both ways, but nothing could be attached to them, and the rumor remained what it was – a rumor.

However, in the past one and a half years, words started making the rounds about the prevalence of this lifestyle in Nollywood and some prominent names were being openly mentioned and linked with the lifestyle. Soon a new club – an informal association of lesbians or bi-sexuals was formed and according to dependable sources “they started flaunting their new lifestyle openly, not minding what the society – still very traditional will view this approach. A prominent light-skinned actress was said to
be in the vanguard of this new lifestyle, and it was she who recruited and introduced others into it. “She made it known a long time ago that her preference was for the opposite sex” a close pal had told us. “As pretty and as adorable as she is, we were worried when we didn’t see her in any relationship with the opposite sex, while her less than elegant colleagues were having a time of their lives with
numerous powerful and influential men, she was always alone. It was later we realized that she had forsworn any relationship with the opposite sex. We started seeing her with a particular female friend whom we later found out, was her lover.” the source had told us.

For now, lesbianism has grown from being a curiosity to a full blown passion among some of the industry’s leading lights. Married stars are said to have experimented with the lifestyle, and hooked, are said to be playing both ways. Young starlets too, are sad to have been talked into embracing the lifestyle. As in Hollywood, where some of the key players are either gay or bi-sexuals, same is happening now in Nollywood. Aspiring actresses are said to be aware of this development, and are
thus open to embracing the lifestyle, if by so ding,it would guarantee them a foot in the door.

Even though the lifestyle has been made open, there are a lot in the industry that have frowned at this lifestyle, and are actively campaigning to discourage and reduce its influence. “I was brought up to respect the sanctity of marriage as a bond between a man and a woman and the notion that a woman could do to a woman what God ordained a man to do is shocking and reprehensible” a popular actress
had told us. “I was shocked when a very prominent actress tried to sell the notion of lesbianism to me, and if not for the respect I have for her and our decade long friendship, I could have given her dirty slap. I warned her never to bring up such repugnant topic to me again. She apologized, and I have forgiven her.”

It is not only the actresses that are said to have experimented this lifestyle, some actors too, have been known to dabble into it. A few weeks ago, a prominent Ghanaian actor – John Dumelo – was reported to have been caught with a gay lover in a hotel in Accra. The news became an Internet sensation prompting the handsome actor to come out and state openly that he was not gay, and
that the story was the handiwork of his detractors and enemies.

One of the motivating impulses for these stars to experiment with alternative lifestyle is the power its
patrons wield. It is believed that lesbianism has spread to critical sectors of our society, and that many prominent people have experimented with it, and that a certain level of acceptability comes with being associated with the lifestyle. Many have had doors open to them in other sectors of the society, because of their affiliation to this lifestyle.

Well until thickmadam told me she dated Jim Iyke I didn't know she dated any guy. She's reserved to the point of me wondering if she really enjoys the company of guys. A sexy actress like that!!

a lonnnnng time ago nah, it was all over the papers and mags that they were dating, but seriously though, because she doesn't flaunt her relationships she's now lesbian? ms nnaji doesn't flaunt her relationships, didn't they say she was pissed that d'banj "outed"their relationship?

maybe she wants to keep her personal business to herself.
as long as she keeps on giving me shoegasms, i don't care what her sexual orientation is.

"Lesbianism Hit Nollywood" as if this is a new phenomenon? Na today lesbianism dey Naija? Who gives a good, bone shattering, mind bending, back breaking you-know-what? This na news? So what if all the women in Nollywood decide they want to revel in one another, how does that help Goodluck Jonathan? Abeg, make I hear word jare! All this sensationalism for what? To sell paper? I don't care if Rita Dominic or abi Sam Loco Efe dey kiss woman, man or donkey, that is their personal lives and not what I pay $5 at my local Senegalese home video purveyor to see! Just like I pay to see Angelina Jolie in film without caring that she swings both way, stole another actress' husband, planning her own 12 tribes of Israel or whatever. I pay to see her do her job, entertain me, temporarily elevate me from my reality and that's about where it ends.

Actually, several actresses including the one in your avatar, have been accused of being weedheads, and lesbians. They even try to pair actresses up....I think it's all lazy reporting, because at the end of the day, we aren't paying for their orientation.

In an interview with Genny that was recently posted online (actually it's the new Econium magazine that features Genny as "The Most Elegant Women in her 30's"), she was asked if she was a lesbiansweat:...This was the question asked...Q:"Perhaps the absence of a visible man in your life is responsible for rumours of lesbianism which seem to trail you..Genny is reported to have laughed and then said "Na today dey begin talk am? I am not a lesbian, besides; I have not said that I have a relationship with any woman, not in my life"

....This seems to be a new interviewing template......It appears some folk are trying to adopt it as their style.....sad.
