I saw part of a movie yesterday (didn’t even check the name) and saw this new guy the marketers are already grooming to be the next big thing! Light Skin and very handsome dude!.... He was playing a guy back from the US and dude was so good! For someone who has not left naija(I presume) he handled the accent very well and his acting is really good. I hear he is the new kid to watch out for now and they are putting him in more movies (will find his name and post)

While we are at it, I heard a rather funny story.... A Marketer paid an actor (one of your favorite) 2million naira and right in his present the dude used more than half of that money to place an order for a Plasma Tv..... The Marketer was shocked and pleaded with the dude.... that he knows the money belongs to him, but he should at least have a little respect for it, because it took him a long time to make that money :D

I feel really sorry for any of them that has not been saving..It is not only stupid but also very unwise because the ban is going to hold for a full year and after that people might not even want to see them again. So many people are rejoicing ….Its like a huge load taken off their backs. So many of them wanted it for a very long time and have actually tried, but since they don’t have the clout to carry it out, they just endured. They are now celebrating that it has finally been done… and the artist that goes to beg any marketer is been pushed around saying go talk to this…. talk to that…. (It’s really a shame)

PS: Patience Ozokwu is not on the list as far as I know :D .....She is loved by many and doesn’t give problem on set...She even begged for (......) and because of her SHE was not on the list. Good woman I must say!

What they should have pursue first is stability I was reading about one of them a very young girl renting a flat in an area where those military mongul live. And she is one of those banned artist. what happen if she cannot pay her rent She start visiting offices making a fool of herself.

If dem like, make dem create a million wannabes. If they lack star quality, talent will not get them there - if they even have talent enough. Stardom that has longevity is more than a pretty face. Do they think RMD got to where he is overnight? Or do they think it was just the 20 yrs he invested that made him a star? They didn't make RMD anyhow. He was a star long before Nollywood. Let them create 20 Nnaji replacements. She's still young. She will do just one movie in a years time after the ban and all of them will become secondary again because very few people in the world has what she has - star quality. It does not grow on trees. You cannot buy it or teach it. You either have the glow or you don't and no marketer can take it from her or RMD.

Khami, i very much wished you could mentioned names and stop this............ business. The first reason is that you guys know what you are talking about and the second thing is that, it is very important to know because these are people whom we've watched so much that they have become part of ours. People have them as role models and if a role model can just use a huge money for just a Plasma TV then people are in for trouble.

One thing is that, do these actors/actress read things on this site? They are really losing a lot. You need to SAVE pls SAVE. In my local delect there is a proverb which says "Money has Wings" they can fly easily.

I agree with you Sola, I strongly beleive that even with the likes of Shola Sola... and Patience Ozokwor, there are differences. There is no way Patience can be Shola neither can Shola be Mama G. Even though they trade along the same "iron ladies" they are two different great actresses. So no matter who they groom to fill the gaps, i still feel we will miss them, No !I WILL miss them a lot. :help

I am actually a lurker but I couldn't resist posting in this thread. A popular proverb says 'out of sight is out of mind'. By the time these 'super stars' are left alone for a year, new talents will emerge that will delight viewers of home videos. Many potential actors and actresses are out there waiting to be discovered. Change is an inevitable thing in life. My advice to the affected stars is that they should start looking at other ways to sustain their livelihood.

khami the guy u talked about must be michael ezeronye, critical decision, right?yeah,he is really good.oga sola's talk on star quality is very right too and u can't take it away from a rmd or a genevieve.but then, the year ban can also produce other stars.sure, some will shine and some will be propped up only to deem forever!

Bros, I agree with everything you said about RMD and Genevieve's 'star quality', but such a talent isn't/can't be exclusive to those two alone na. Yet-to-be discovered talents out there sef fit possess that same ..charm and charisma wey set those two apart, too. And given the necessary exposure and opportunities to showcase their acting talents/gifts, I'm sure such people can also shine.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH U LAFEM. SHOLA E BE LIKE SAY U DEY MISS THE POINT COMPLETELY. FINE RMD AND GENNY HAVE STAR QUALITY BUT THEY CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONES NOW-REMEMBER HOLLYWOOD, EACH GENERATION GET PLENTY STARS WITH THE "IT" FACTOR AND THAT'S WHY THERE IS GROWTH. THAT'S WHY WE GET PLENTY TO CHOOSE FROM DEMI, JULIA, SANDRA, RENEE,CATHERINE, UMA, ANGELINA... ETC DIFF BEAUTIFUL ACTTRESSES WITH DIFF STAR QUALITIES. ON THE MEN'S SIDE DENZEL, RUSSEL, TOM, SYDNEY, MICHAEL D, KEVIN SPACEY, TOM CRUISE, WILL SMITH....WE GO DIE PUT GENNY AND RMD! IN TRUTH, RECENTLY RMD & GENNY'S ACTING DON DEY TOO MONOTONOUS-SAME BODY LANGUAGE, SAME EXPRESSIONS...GIVE ME A BREAK! I LOVE THESE TWO DEARLY BUT THEY NEED TO TAKE SOME TIME TO REVAMP THEMSELVES. THIS IS A GREAT DEVELOPMENT, HOW ELSE WOULD WE BE ABLE TO SEE THESE NEW GUYS/GIRLS IN LEAD ROLES AND JUDGE 4 OURSELVES IF THEY HAVE IT OR NOT?

Abi o! Zelifat and Lafem are so on point. Why should we all think that because pple like Genny are banned, we are in trouble or nollywood will not function properly. I would miss acts like Shola Shobowale (if she was on the list) before I miss Genny, Iyke, and all those other actors that some consider star quality

Thank you Zelifat for these great points you've made up here...Lord knows I couldn't have said it any better. We really need more faces and quality wise with our actors/actresses than just the two(Genny and RMD) that we already have. So am hoping and praying that this ban on these monotonous Stars that Nollywood have utilized soo much will eventually create the opportunity for that now.

I don't know where anyone read me saying we don't need more faces, Zelifat. That aside, you don't create more faces by deliberately killing current ones. The audience taste changes and that is how new ones come up and old ones fade, not due to some conspiracy.
And my main point is all these kids being banned are mostly young. The sky is big enough for all birds. Create your new faces. If the audience will not turn them to huge stars, putting then in a million movies will not do it. It is not automatic. It boils down to what people accept. And as for the banned ones, nex year, all they have to do is feature in a couple of movies and they will be back on top. Why? Because the marketers did not make them. The audience did. And if the audience still like them, they will pop right back on top.

Totally on point,there!
This is what a lot of the peeps here don't know.
One more thing, the marketers are not the ones paying the stars' fees, but the viewing public. If they(public)don't buy movies and put money in the pockets of the marketers, then the marketers can't pay anybody's fees, even if the asking fee is 1000 naira per movie.Simple!

One thing is, with talent and hardwork, any [new] actor can excel, and be loved by the viewing audience! All they need is to be given the opportunity to show what they got. Gene and RMD didn't just become stars in a day, it took them hardwork, practice, good acting; and with time they gained experience. Anyone who goes through an acting school should know the basics - the stuffs needed to act well. Give these yet-to-be-noticed people a chance to show what they have to offer, their experience could grow in months, or even shorter than we anticipated, depending on how they utilize their potentials. Every audience should love good acting, no matter the face! Afterall, the major aim is to entertain. It's also good to have these new actors star in good scripts, because with a bad script, introducing them to the audience could just kill any chance they have to be noticed and loved.
