New Diaspora Drama Festival Seeking Plays, Films & Videos The New Diaspora Drama Festival is an event set for May of 2004, in New Bedford Massachusetts. The purpose of the festival is to provide theatre artists and filmmakers with the exposure for their work. This call is open to all community, professional, semi-professional and college theatre groups and filmmakers. We are looking for short plays (10 30 minutes) as well as short films and videos (up to 40 minutes), primarily by Black, Hispanic and Native American theatre artists and filmmakers.The plays must be a self-contained, workshop-styled productions with minimal set and technical requirements. Comedies, dramas, experimental and solo performance (dramatic poetry, storytelling, etc.) pieces are welcomed and encouraged. The playwright, at least, should be a person of color as described above.The films and videos must be in a VHS or DVD format. Narrative, documentary, animation and experimental (including music videos) are welcomed. The producer(s), director and/or writer, at least, should be a person of color as described above. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: PLAYS: 1. A cover page including the name of the play, approximate length, production company (if any), contact person's name, address, telephone number(s) and e-mail address. 2. A synopsis of the play (3 paragraph maximum). 3. A copy of the script, with character list and description. 4. A list of set, prop, sound and lighting requirements (if any). 5. A copy of the play on video tape (video footage of readings are also fine). 6. Biographies on the playwright, director, actor(s) designer(s) and company (if applicable). 7. If the playwright is not the principle contact, a copy of the written permission from the playwright to use their work. FILMS & VIDEOS: 1. A cover page including the name of the film or video project, genre (documentary, narrative, etc.) approximate length, contact persons name, address, telephone number(s) and e-mail address. 2. A synopsis of the film or video (3 paragraph maximum). 3. A Copy of the film on VHS or DVD. 4. Biographies on the producer(s), writer(s), director, actor(s) and designer(s).
