Lol, I'm sure you can un'Nigerianise it but it won't sound like that o!!... If I try am you go kill me.... 'Ogre-bone-Nar' you can jara it self and say 'Na Ogre bone Narnia' - oyinbo go understand your yarn!

Or you can East Europiawn it (drop 1st 3 letters) and call yaself 'Onna'.

Such trendy spellings may help foreigners know how to pronounce our name o. I mean, they're spelled so phonetic dem no go fit butcher them. Come to think of it, we've been doing this for a while with names like Ijay, Iyke (=IK=Ikechukwu=Ikechi=Ikenna) and so on.

Pete, how now? It could be... but I bet 101+1% that has NEVER been the reason anyone Naija persin has done such. If they want oyinbo to sabi call their name... they must proudly teach him how to. Even me as a Nigerian cannot pronounce that inferior nonzenze they are writing... plus e dey make eye pain me!

Do you know how many reporters Kanye West had to physically beat up to make that "ny" sound in his first name? But we? Haba, one Edwin Muofunanya sharp-sharp turned his name to Eddy Muffy! Nathaniel Eze Okoli became Nathy O'King, Benneth Ugwu is now Benny Hill! Nkiru Oku is Nikky Fires! Lewis Akaike is Louis Armstrong! And our poor Kenechukwu Stephen Nwatu sharpned up as Ken Stewart!

I live at Awkunanaw Enugu which is a colonial manipulation of Oku-na-ano, Enu Ugwu. Even Oka citizens proudly beat their chests screaming: I come from AWKA! No be small thing o! Facebook only borrowed a hoe to finally bury the already killed "effizzyy".

I think you should blame your ancestors for acquiring a family name that has no potentials, whatsoever, to be unNigerianized!
Village Boy has already tushed out something but you are still screaming "blood of Jesus" all over his kind effort?
Well, let's see: How about "Oh Gbuo Now"? And oyibo version of this oyibo version, something like, "Oh Bow Now!" meaning you are from a royal lineage which I know it's true!

Austie baby,

Okwesi ka nna gi wee iwe! Ifuro ife ndia ji af'anyi emegasi (You're father is supposed to get angry; can't you see what these people are doing to our names)

Tchynwe/ Tcheenwae = Chinwe
Awbeeagirlie = Obiageli
Eephaeyeenwar = Ifeyinwa

Aarbeeawla = Abiola
Aarkeentoonde = Akintunde and so on

So your father's ire is justified; matter of fact so is every one of us on this thread!

Oh, hello You-Rae, nice to meet you. Did you say you spat coffe on your keyboard? My friend, Awyeendaamawlar did the same thing? It was her brother, Aardeiwaalei, that took it to their cousin's laundromat, I think his name is Aarzoobooeekay...anyway, he did a good job of getting the stains out.

My name is Chooqumaaeefae and I reside in London with my cousin, Enkaycheenyaeray.

Okay, this is going ballistic! Could you, please, translate those "abracadabra" names?

At least I know You-Rae is URE.
What in the world is Awyeendaamawlar?
Is Aardeiwaalei same as Adewale?
And I am hoping Aarzoobooeekay is not Azubuike?
Is Chooqumaaeefae Chukwuma-what?
And, of course, Enkaycheenyaeray sounds like Nkechinyere?

Oya, you brainy babe, score me abeg!

Awyeendaamawlar - Oyindamola

Chooqumaaeefae - Chukwumaife

All the others = all correct
