A Big Hello to All,
I am new to this forum and new to African movies. I was hoping you guys can guide me to great Nollywood movie experience. I saw my first two African movies 4 days ago,( Blood Sisters / The Breakup ) and immediately went online to search for reference. This was the first forum I came across and decided to join. Please forgive my ignorance, as I do not know the difference between Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa. I also do not know if the two movies I mentioned are Nigerian. If someone can guide me to an online movie rental company offering African movies and if you can offer some movie recommendations I would great fully appreciate it.
Thanks in Advance to all
FFL
welcome to the family:1200:

The swap shop are selling copies for $5.00 each disc. so, if your movies has 2 or 3 parts you pay $10 or $15
I will sell originals for $12.00 regardless if there are 2 or 3 disc in the package,

huh:confused:

So you're saying i can buy 3 part movie for $12 dollars right?

Is shipping included in that fee?

wait a minute--!!!

don't tell me this whole "school me on Nollywood movies" thing was just an elaborate set-up for some small-time business venture?

Example: "Beyonce" is a two disc set. you get the two disc for $12.00 "Beyonce Return" is a two disc set, you get both disc for $12.00
"Governor's Wife" is a three disc set, you get the three disc for $12.00
Widow is only one disc, will probably sell for $7.00
shipping is additional if you purchase through Amazon, ( I can't control that ) I've also decide to build my own website, If may offer free shipping in the beginning, but will only be for a limited time

Absolutely not TS, as I mentioned earlier, last weekend I went to my local swap shop ( If you've ever been in Miami or Fort Lauderdale, you definately know what I am talking about ) and saw the lines for bootleg Nigerian/Ghanian movies, that's when I realized there's a market for genre, I made a few inquiries, made a few phone call, found a distributor and decided to give it a try. I joined this forum because I knew nothing of these movies, its only by luck I came across the first two.

Its not like that Bro, just saw an opportunity and decided to take it to the next level, My daughter's friends came over for a visit a few days ago while we were watching one of the movies, they all wanted to see more and more. I was traveling to ATL, had my laptop watching Return of Beyonce in the airport waiting area, the person sitting next to me stood behing me watching the movie, after a few minutes I had a crowd of people standing behind me watching the movie, I had to take out my earpiece because they wanted to listen. they all asked about it, and where they can find the movies. The sisters of my Queen, came for a visit from South Carolina for the 4Th of July, my daughter threw in a movies and Voila ! hooked, Everyone who had the opportunity to see the movies got hooked and ask where they can get their hands on them. put all those together and the light bulb went off.
TAKE STYLE, If you plan to be in so. Fla. anytime soon, PM me your details, I will take you to the local Swap Shop so you can see first hand what I'm talking about. BTW I just saw a Brazilian movie called Bog of Beast, it one you should put on your to see list. I also saw the German movie Grimme Love, A true story about a man who had a desire to eat a human, began his search on the internet and found a man who wanted to be eaten, they meet and well you'll have to see the movie for the rest. Another out of the way (kind of disturbing) but a must see for film freaks is Taxidermia - filmed in Hungary/Austria/France. Very Dark,

BTW guys, I received an email from the moderator indicating i cannot speak in specific or promote my future business venture in this in the forum. if you would like more information, please PM me .

LOL like i told you, FFL... do you. if that's your story and you're sticking to it, i guess i have no choice but to accept it.

BUT look at this situation here and tell me that it doesn't smell fishy:

--you come on to a Nigerian movies forum, advertising yourself as a foreigner... most people embraced you with open arms

--in the 2 months since you first introduced yourself, you never ONCE ventured into the forum to participate in discussions or otherwise act like you are serious about being part of this online community. rather, you stuck to your introduction post, repeatedly asking people to list more and more Nollywood titles for you

(EDIT: okay... i double-checked and realized that you actually did chime in once or twice in a Bollywood thread and two others. but even then, you were STILL doggedly making inquiries about where to buy original Nollywood DVDs in different cities!)

--in a VERY short time, you reported that you had amassed an alarming number of Nollywood titles... more than the average person would ever acquire for solely recreational purposes.

--a few people asked you in shock if you had really watched all these movies. you said that you had, even though you never discussed any of these movies that you had supposedly watched in even the simplest, broadest detail

--then all of a sudden, you've got movies to sell. and not just one or two used ones that you've watched and want to get rid of... you've got enough that you're even thinking of setting up a website and stores on eBay and Amazon!

i dunno, man... if you say that you didn't have any devious plan, then i have to accept it. but i got to tell you: it comes off EXTREMELY cheesy to introduce yourself in a forum and before you're even situated and comfortable in the community, you're already wheeling out some plan on how to make money off the people in said forum.

and i'll admit that i feel particularly offended because i was one of the main people trying to bond with you, thinking you were sincere.

maybe i'm making much ado about nothing, though... maybe you're just a fan of Nigerian movies and you found a way to make a little money on the side from them (which is the American Way) and you are providing a service that some people on this board might even want to take advantage of. if so, more power to you.

nevertheless, i still think it's tacky and shows a distinct lack of class.

my $0.02.

oh yeah... otherwise, thanks for the movie recommendations. i'll check those titles out.

I am a foreigner TS, I am from Panama

There are so many titles out there, a newbie to this genre would not know where to start without help, thus the reason I joined this forum. look at what I had to choose from: http://www.imdb.com/List?tv=on&&cou...Nigeria/include-titles&&heading=8;All;Nigeria

(EDIT: okay... i double-checked and realized that you actually did chime in once or twice in a Bollywood thread and two others. but even then, you were STILL doggedly making inquiries about where to buy original Nollywood DVDs in different cities!)
Since joining this forum. I've learned there's a huge following of this genre in ATL and NYC, I have a daughter in college at spellman, so I often visit and wanted to get my hands on some movies while there. The headquarted of the company I work for is in New York (Avenue of the Americas) I am scheduled to travel there for some training in August, was hoping to get my hands on some movies while there. This was the plan before I decided to do my own thing. the first two movies I saw , were horrible copies, looked downloaded, I was looking for better. when I travel to Chicago, I buy tons of Bollywood movies on Devon street, (get them cheap there $5-$6 each (ORIGINALS)--in a VERY short time, you reported that you had amassed an alarming number of Nollywood titles... more than the average person would ever acquire for solely recreational purposes.

My hobby IS foreign films, I watch films all weekends and some during the week.

--a few people asked you in shock if you had really watched all these movies. you said that you had, even though you never discussed any of these movies that you had supposedly watched in even the simplest, broadest detail

Not sure I qualify to get into details about this genre, only been at it for a short while.
--then all of a sudden, you've got movies to sell. and not just one or two used ones that you've watched and want to get rid of... you've got enough that you're even thinking of setting up a website and stores on eBay and Amazon!
I will not offer any USED movies, only NEW, I selected the some titles I have seen because they are worthy and will be liked by others. I don't even have my supplies yet, I placed my first order last monday and expect it to arrive sometime next week. ( I hope)

Selling these movies were never in my mind, I just reallyt enjoyed them. But an opportunity presented itself and I hope to be successful at it.

and i'll admit that i feel particularly offended because i was one of the main people trying to bond with you, thinking you were sincere.

Don't feel guilty, I applaud your admiration for foreign films, I haven't found many with your knowledge - I have been sincere from the get go.

I AM a fan, I got hooked from the first movie I watched, just like every other person that got hooked, my goal is to provide them with the movies, and I make a little something on the side.nevertheless, i still think it's tacky and shows a distinct lack of class.

my $0.02.
Thanks for you $0.02. TS, hope you have a change of mind
oh yeah... otherwise, thanks for the movie recommendations. i'll check those titles out.
Hope you enjoy them

I am also as surprised as Takestyle. I thought you were a sincere Nollywood fan, and I took time to prepare a long list of what I considered very good movies for you. Now, I believe that you were doing a survey for a business, without letting us know! Had I known, I would not have gone through the trouble to respond. I feel as if you have abused our good will for your private ends. The pricing of your products on the site is also brazen marketing. This is not good, and we in NR should not be suckers for this kind of approach in the future.

I am sadden you have chosen to believe my intentions were other than what I have stated. I will say this once more ONLY, I AM A NOLLYWOOD FAN! and will no longer defend that to anyone else. Final Answer
