she is a police officer in the show.....I didnt see her on the promos I watched, but that to me don't really matter, because the promo was tight and I believe they were trying to establish the soc sec/death/Millionaire/James links to the 'person' of interest in society.

    sort of :D
Yeah, the show was in DC area too, I was not keen on watching it. I am boycotting the 'Fela' show. I got an issue with them NOT featuring Nigerians in the show, after all, Fela na Naija own! Unless they've now added Nigerian cast, I no get plans watch it at all!

Imagine Yankee making money out of our legend! hiiiissssss. Where you see Nigerian company putting up a Yankee artists how in Naija to make money? Mba!

Lemme know when Naija person join the cast and I go even fly to NY to watch it.

I don't think so. It has technological/HomeLand touch that people would want to see. Uncle Sam with eyes on the world and its pros and cons is interesting to know...

    i'm not knocking their hustle.
if no nigerian has thought, in all these years that Fela has been gone, to take up the mantle and honour Baba, i have no quarrels with anybody cashing in on it.
two of my white co-workers saw the show when it came to dc or they went to ny i forget which location, and for a couple of days they were disturbing me and harrassing me about this legend.

until we stop telling nonsense stories in the movies and start honouring our own, other people will do it for us.

I am NOT knocking their hussle either.
A show like that commands big funds which dem JayZ and Will Smith them can cough out easily!
I am 100% sure that IF we have Nigerians with money like 'em, FELA and OGUNDE and even books like 'Things Fall Apart' would have been honored on a Grande/lavish scale. When DaGrin died, did people not do things and even a movie for him? The money is the koko here! They should not brush us off cos they got the quid!

yes, it is OK for them to honor our Abami Eda, but NOt to involve Nigerians in it is WRONG! I remember at the beginning, there stories all over the place that even Fela's children were NOT involved in the production! So, what story are they telling if they don't get first-hand info from those involved???

Would anyone from any part of the world right now DARE TO make a production out of Michael Jackson WITHOUT going through his family and legal team??? Exactly! Our lawless country makes people wanna ride over us!

next thing now we go see them produce a stage show to make billions of dollars on our other legends and no one go say piim!

latest example: If Chinua Achebe was not alive and strong and stood up against 50 Cents, na so 'Things Fall Apart' for take become yankee property O!!! Imagine! So, what if a naija person wants to recreate the whole Achebe's movie on Hollywood levels with all the Okonkwo and village settings etc? NO be so 50cents for just spoil am for us???

The Jacksons' family were consultants to the whole production tho.

besides 'The Jacksons' is NOT the same thing as 'MICHAEL JACKSON'
I used MICHAEL JACKSON as an example, NOT the Jackson clan!

    I stand humbly corrected.
