At the end of the day 1/2 of the people are gonna end up with who they wanna end up with. The other 1/2 wil end up with who they think family and freinds want them to be with.

That's the one that really sucks! Cos if things dont work out, they would live with regrets and blaming it on the family/friends.

But when the choice is strictly the person's, they would endure and even try to prove family wrong by making sure it works.

The thread title says it all....

Reading the title of this thread: SELECTING A PARTNER FOR LIFE, gives a deeper meaning and practically summarizes what everyone wishes for. i.e. - FOR LIFE!

Not SELECTING A PARTNER FOR MARRIAGE or SELECTING A HUSBAND/WIFE. [because divorce has given people a window to jump out when the heat gets too hot for them!

Marriage as an institution has lost its sacredness and sanctity. People dont believe it anymore. I know of women these days who actually just want to get married to have kids, after which they would dump the man and keep their kids and 'freedom'.

And most times, they dont drop the man's last name and 'Mrs.' title! Just to get relatives off their backs who keep asking the qestion; "When are you going to get married? All your mates have 3,4 children?" And with no Mr. Right in the horizon, and probably menopause age knocking nearby, they have kids that are not "out of wedlock"! And dump the Sperm donor (husband)! Its sad.

Being the reason I agree more that everyone should wait for whoever God has destined for them! No matter what!!!?

Thus, choosing a partner FOR LIFE! SHould be to the man and woman tying the knot, a sort of 'Romantic Life Sentence'! Where the gate gets shut (marriage cermony), and no one can leave ever! No matter the situation, that way, they would try to sort issues out. And make In-laws permanent 'out-laws'! Cos 8 out of 10 times, out-laws, I mean in-laws cause more wahala.

I so love the sight of seeing an aged couple , all bent over with age and athritis holding hands while walking down the street! I love it!

An old man was once asked why his marriage lasted the 55 years he was celebrating, and he said that him and wifey made sure never to hate each other at the same time, he never hated his wife when she hated him, and she never hated him, when he hated her!

sorry Im just catching up on this thread .... are we talking about American men or Nigerian men ......

btw ...a woman that has not gotten married at a certain age ....does she have leprosy ???

to me its even more embarrassing if a female soft and cute .... has not gotten someone they can point at and say "that is my fiance" ...please it only means two things ...u were probably promiscous ...doing the big chick/sugar daddy stuff or u are lacking in some feminine skills ...but rather than make this topic about the men ...women really need to check themselves out ...while folks are using God and all other excuses ....

It is a man's world oooh ...men can sire children at 90 yrs old ...so females have to leave their feminist propaganda at the door or their biological clock will shut down ...and that will be a life time of "had I known"

In many situations women outnumber men ....... most of the so called responsible men that provide for their family ....were nurtured by a supportive wife ...there was work involved ...so folks keep it real grinning:

Infact men can afford to not have a goal at 30 yrs old ...but trust me he can start having his goals at 45 and still be able to grab a wife then ...so ladies be smart !!!!

agree with almost everything you said but @highlighted are u serious???? that must be an exaggerated statement right??
Lets be real unlike what goes on in the world today where partners are easily tossed away like outfits when they no longer become the "in" thing.., marriage is a life time commitment,it should be entered into with care and not some societal based standard of age or what not, and most of all(believe it or not) God.
I agree its a mans world but be that as it may some of the ladies married at the "age" are already divorced or experiencing problems, so to whose benefit was the marriage...society or thiers???

Your staement up their looks real cute ...but ...those who did all the right things still get divorced there is no full proof prevention plan ...so that is no excuse ...just say u are not the marrying type and u dont want to be bothered ...but to say if u take time and select ur husband u will never divorce is a big fat lie ...lets get real ...divorce happens and we dont know why ...but circumstances do change ....I have seen folks who meet today and marry tomorrow and they are enjoying longetivity in their marriage ... I have seen high school sweethearts too marry and have horrible divorces ... there are no guarantees !!!

Please read the post I was responding to ...the poster was asking if the man has leprosy ...so i switched the question around ...to show that it was so irrelevant .cos it goes both ways !! Read it again below !!
