i love terrence and all, but it still doesnt sit right with me that Terrence will win an oscar before Don Cheadle. I hope its just a nomination, cos he is too early in the game to win. yeah i know he been acting for long and all, and i have also liked him since Best man and the whole nine yards, but truly i sincerely believe oscars should go to ppl who have been long in the game and have an excellent resume of work.

This is the same feeling i had about cuba gooding jnr, and now where is he, he cant even get a job these days. I mean i was so dissapointed that he won an oscar for the " show me the money b.s., when all he had on his resume was some Boyz n da hood mess".

These whites i dont know how they nominate to actors. Is so confusing.

    hollywood hollywood,
play a thug (denzel and terrence) or a some hoe boning a racist redneck (halle) and they give you an oscar.

Oh well, if he wins he wins. He is an excellent actor, whether he wins now or future, he still going to win someday. I just hope he doesnt go downhill like Cuba Gooding after this win.

I am glad "Crush" got nonimated though, i hope the directors win. ONe of the best movies of the year with excellent cast.

ps: what was that that he said on Get Rich
"When am right, i am right, and when i wrong i know i am right but i could have been wrong.. but i am right (that had me laughing so hard in the theatre, Terrence is crazy - He is like a friend in my head)

    Akos,

One does not have to be in the industry for a long time to win an oscar. How good you are is what they look at. All it will take, is one movie and if you were good, there you go. Yep, some black actors are long overdue in getting the oscars and that is rather sad...but they have started and hopefully all those who deserve to get the oscar will in due time...i was so happy for Morgan Freeman when he won last year...in my opinion he should have recieved it after that wonderful movie called "the shawshank redemption". excellent movie! I was also happy for Jaime fox when he won for the movie "Ray"...he acted so well and that was his first movie I think.. smooches.

Jamie has good resume atleast for his role along Al Pacino in "Any Given Sunday" (1999). Then "Bait" (2000). Not to mention him being the stupid crazy dude that has to bite himself to convince a woman that he wasnt really selfish in "Breaking All the Rules" in 2004. That same year, he played the easy going, paranoia night cab driver under the belt of a serial killer (Played by Tom Cruise) in "Colletaral". He then top it with RAY playing a blind man with attitude. I believed he tried and deserved the award. By the way he used to own a comedy series in the 90's.

Never really noticed until I watched a movie(can't remember which one) and he's great actor with the dreamy eyes.Let the best person win the Oscar award but for all it matters,I'd be rooting for him.

Yes, yes, yes...he has acted in some movies before "Ray"...I completely forgot. I did watch and infact have his movie "Breaking All the Rules" a good one I must add. But still, an actor should get an Oscar even if he only just acted in one movie. the whole idea is how good the actor was...:biggrinsa

yes i totally agree with what you are all saying, i guess i am just dissapointed when long overdue actors are by passed and dont get an oscar, and this is not a black white thing cos one of the White Actors i am just soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo disappointed has never won an oscar is LEONARDO DICAPRIO - i mean look at the guys resume and tell me if i am wrong. He pulls u into his character and make it so believable. ONe white actor i sincerely love plus Merryl Streep (oscar deserving).

Now bet this, they will give the oscar to square jaw Reese Witherspoon - and a few years from now, someone like Lindsey Lohan.

I guess i still dont understand how they do the votings and nominations and who does them.

But i do take my words back - i will be overjoyed if Terrence wins. I hope next year Don Cheadle wins.

Black actors in my eyes who won and i think deserved to win are Morgan FRreeman, Denzel (shoulda won for Malcolm X, not Training day), Sidney Poitier, McDaniel (the 1st winner), Jaimie Foxx ( i just feel he got lucky cos he got a good script and acted the hell out of it, it was a good movie and he acted it well but had he acted any other movie i doubte he woulda had the chance to show his skills like that)

All the other winners - i dont know.

Now if you ask me whom i think i long overdue in winning

    Angela Bassett (for Tina Turner)
    Cicely Tyson (for Roots)
    Don Cheadle (Hotel Rwanda)

(it wont rest with me until these above actors plus Leonardo di caprio win oscars someday)
there are some actors i just dont take seriously including Will Smith and Martin Lawrence cos when i watch them all i see is comedy, regardless of how serious the role. But hey, if Tom Hanks could make that transition from "Splash" to winning 2 oscars they all can.

but to sum it up, not many blacks win so whomever win, regardless gets my 100% support, cos i know i will be jumping in my livin room, screaming and shouting my head off on March 3rd when DAshon howard (Terrence) walks up that stage. I love him, he makes me laugh too.

He did a hell of a job in 2005. I cant complain.

    why are you surprised?
Denzel won for playing a Thug a Thief and a Killer in Training Day
Halle won , for boning the hell out of a Racist Redneck

    What else is new.

A woman leaves an abusive relationship, stands on her own two feet and succeeds despite all, yet she gets bypassed. That movie sent such a strong message to women, and i think shoulda won. (angela bassett in whats love got to do with it).

Al Pacino did not win an oscar for doing "ScarFace" I wonder why (if you know whattammean)

See why i said i dont understand how they nominate? or what it is based on.

This was actually my Social Differences class project in 2002. That was right after Denzel and Halle won the oscars. I have to do a presentation on Hollywood Academy bias to oscar worthy black actors from the days of Sidney Poitier, in 85% white class. Well, the Prof is black aswell (Prof. Butt).
