I received this from a student in New Zealand:

Dear Mr. Editor, first of all i thank all the Nigerian movie companies in Nigeria (i don't know how many there is)on behave of West Africa. I am a Liberian living and studing in Wellington New Zealand, I love Nigerian movies very much. One reason is because I feel more closer to home when I watch them and another is because I get to see good looking creation like Ramsey (the guy from "Valentino" I don't remember his last name). There are many other reasons why but I can't say all, once again you guys do a great job. With all do respect Mr. Editor, although it is clear to all of us West Africans that you guys are doing a great job there is still some simple correction needed to be made. You know, things like the background noise: in most of the Nigerian movies I have seen, the background noise is louder than the main sound and it should'nt be like that. second the womens' makeup: some times it is too much that it hides their real beauty and they use too much fake hair. The only acctress that I have seen with just the right quantity of makeup is Gene and she is a beautiful woman and a great actress too. Oh and Liz Benson too. I hope I haven't offended anyone, I think it is good to tell you guys your faults because we are very very proud of you guys.

oga sola, the writer from new zealand talk well, the kind noise don blast my ears many time, i make peope lose interest i wathing home videos, at the same time, i bow for the make ups, and baffs and other things used in naija movies, i watched one that has a lot of baffs and new cars but the movie was woh woh, they assume showing suh things raise the movie, but the thing be say when the actors no act well, we no fit consider the dress and houses.
i was wondering if "tears of the sun" was acted by pure naija artistes if it would have fared the way it did.

All the editors should be shot in the head!!!!!!! Thats the only solution because its their jobs to cut out background noises:D

Oh I was watching Nigerian Porn (thank you anonymous friend) and it was funny. It was AWFUL. I saw the producer, I heard the director telling them what to do, the photographer was everywhere, it made it obvious they were so many people in there, and BACKGROUND NOISE NKO, cellphone ringing everywhere......Ok lets say they couldnt get the place to be quiet but did the director have to say shit while they filmed??????

Just me ranting

But on the real, porn is like an art, its a form of entertainment, people watch it for different reasons; Research, information and well pleasure???? Frankly I still dont see how people derive pleasure from watching other people pretend to "pleasurize" other people.

Porn is not something INDECENT. Its just an art!!!!!!!!!

YEP, porn is ART. GANSTA RAP is ART. PROSTITUTION is a respectable profession, alongside ARMED ROBBERY, 419, NATIONAL TREASURY LOOTING etc. :D :D :D

On the real tho', an acquaintance swears that Clarion Chukwurah Abiola acted in some of Naija's earliest porn movies back in the mid 1980s. Back then, the output was supposedly for the German market (Achtung herr Vince, are you an "Adult" movie star over there? acting alongside your kontri women and dose Fraus and Frauleins ?) . Sola, what do you know about the origins of the Naija "Adult" movie industry ? How long has it been in existence, and who are the primary consumers ?

Regards

Yes. Prostitution is a profession. Armed Robbers and Politicians have one thing in common, they steal from the people. Doctors = Murderers, Lawyers are Liars, and we steal call them professionals!!!!!!!!!!!

Porn for the rich????? Interesting. My future plans for Nigeria is to bring SEX out of the closet, it happens everywhere, even in the elementary schools, so why not just make it an open issue and maybe people can actually get satisfied!!!!!!!!!:)

Uncle Sola I know eh, now is the time, but the thing is, my dad still calls me BABY and I'll like to keep things that way:D .

Hitler, am not trying to be like Madonna and all, we just happen to have the same views. My obsession for the adult entertainment industry started after I caught the interview with JENNA JAMESON. I always heard her name but I didnt know who she was. She's a pornstar and she has like an amazing view on life, I love that and she made a lot of points that got me interested in the adult entertainment industry. I know Nigeria would accept what am bringing, because it'll be new, fresh and really err...not interesting but INTRIGUING:D

And just so you know, there is a LOTTTTTTT of dough in the adult entertainment business. I went to a gay porn store with my friend the other day and a regular gayporn DVD costs like 70quid and the stuff was selling like crazy. And that is just gay porn o.

I mean not just people trying to "Satisfy" themselves watch porn, there's those that watch it to "learn" moves, and there's the psychologists that use it to understand sex offenders. I could go on and on, teachers to show their kids what mating is all about, sex ed, philosophist to explain SEX. And then you bring in the toys!!!!!!!!!!! Thats all am saying

A dark secret of the Internet? Porn makes more money than every other thing, but no one is really able to measure it because it is sometimes located in other countries for legal reasons. It is huge.
