The high end NLEs in this category are considered in the high end level as mid range systems. They are capable of processing up to full bandwidth high definition video image with a little dabbling in the 2k film resolution(Smoke system).
When i say full bandwidth HD video quality,i mean;Uncompressed 10 bit log RGB 4:4:4 high definitionn video quality, which is the highest video quality image available. These systems have enough power to process this kind of data in real time.

The prices for these class of high end NLEs,by the way is in the six figure bracket. From $120K upwards depending on the system configuration.
These systems are especially popular with top TV broadcast corporations and postproduction studios.

The new SMOKE 6,although in the price category as the ones above hasmoved to the working region of bigger brother FIRE because it now can play back in real time 2K film resolution, which lifts it above the rest in this category. The new version also runs on the high end visualisation workstation TEZRO from Silicon Graphics(SGI),which is a more powerful machine than theOCTANE2 on which the old version (shown above) runs.
SMOKE also runs on the LINUX operating system.
