A part's 1 to 4 movie.

Beautiful maidens working, serving and moving to and fro at the royal place isn't only elegant but self-indulging, says the king. He finds pleasure in anyone who's ready to satisfy his sexual desires. The queen's ignorance gives much room for her husband to prey on the maidens. Which of the maidens will win his heart for a second wife?

Starring:

Rita Dominic, Mercy Johnsoon, John Domelu, Chinwetalu Agu,

Director: Iyke Odife

I just finished watching part 1 and 2. I liked Rita Dominic, Mercy Johnson and Chinwetalu Agu's acting....I am honestly beginning to dislike John Domelu. He has this arrogance about him in all the movies I have watched of him....its beginning to get over my nerves...and he does not know how to act either....not convincing one bit.

The movie so far is not bad...at least, the story is interesting...do not particularly like Mercy but she is very convincing in this movie...I think just like Nadia, I like Mercy when she is not obnoxious in her acting.

Anyway movie is ok, same old story. It could have been only two parts. Rita was too soft in the movies
but as always she was great to watch

i liked Rita in the movie, Mercy got annoying at one point. i felt her acting was forced at times.
the movie had so much potential but they dragged scenes and it took away from the essence of the film

Yeah, Mercy was back to herself in parts three and four...She seriously needs to wear stockings abeg. There is just something about her that annoys me especially when she tries to be sexy…For once; I was hoping that I will not hear her say her favorite line… ‘my love’ ‘my love’ stuff, but same old same old...(sigh)....I loved Rita Dominic’s hair and she is a very cool actress…love her.

The movie was just OK for me. That palace, the hummer designed section kept creeping me out, I don't know why. na wah for jeep house oh!
I loved how Rita's xter was soft, gentle and classy. She did a great job.
I think my boo John D has been stereotyped into acting the obnoxious, full of it, King(with awful outfits) guy. He needs to break away from this xter and give use something new and refreshing.
Papa Chiwetalu, this guy always has a catch phrase in every movie and although I don't understand it, it cracks me up always

The best part for me in the movie is when Rita leaves the palace and the chief of staff turns to the servants and tells them to use the money she gave as transport and follow her. Now that is being loyal to your Queen.
All in all, nice watch!!!

Thought it was mostly boring

4/10

The Maidens | The Nollywood Forever Movie Review Blog
The first scenes are way too long. I felt totally bored just waiting for something to happen. In fact the whole of Part 1 is long and protracted. Hardly anything happens and I only hung in there because of the stellar cast, particularly to watch Rita Dominic having not seen her in a movie for a while. There is some improvement in part 2. We see the king find favour with the maiden Linda played by Biola Ige and the drama that ensues when her boyfriend and palace employee catches her sneaking out of the Kings room.

Speaking of Biola Ige I have to ask again WTF? If you don't know what those three letters stand for, ask me and I will tell you. I need to say it three more times. WTF? WTF? WTF? I have to say she is not grating on me as much as she first did because they have thrown her in so many movies I have had to develop techniques to lessen the torture, but I still don't get it. THE GIRL CAN'T ACT POINT BLANK. If you must keep using her, train her or something. This is getting ridiculous.

Linda's dad Paul, played by Chiwetalu Agu had a cheek getting upset about the fact that she was sleeping with the king when HE was the one that encouraged it. Now if the king had wanted to marry Linda I'm sure Papa Paul would have been shucking and jiving but because the king discarded her like a used condom he is now giving her a telling off. Hypocrite!

The Queen too had some nerves scolding the maids for all the "frivolities" taking place with the King in the palace. She tells them that they are taking, "liberties" by sleeping with her husband. Ex-cah-youuuuuse me miss! Is your husband not the married one and the one in a position of power? She should have been talking to him instead of the maids. They are powerless if they want to keep their jobs.

Don’t you think Ijeoma Okorie who plays Juliet looks like a young Phylicia Rashad? That’s Claire Huxtable from the Cosby show for those that don't know. Very pretty girl and from this one performance I have hopes she can do good in Nollywood.

i did not understand this movie. why was rita portrayed to be so ignorant?
rita was graceful and majestic in her queenship role. john could you please get out
of your comfort zone (kingship roles) and do something challenging. haba

something is going on with mercy johnson.
she's lost that "IT" factor. anddropping too many "my loves".
i watched this movie and i was not feeling her.

i think she needs to take a break, and reclaim that which she has lost.

she's affected a whine, some type of walk/stomp when she is "angry"...i don't know...something is off
and i wish she'd just speak english like normal.
i don't understand that thing she does with her elbows is. *sigh*

ms mercy, please, i'm warning you o, you're in my sights now....if i watch one more movie. hmmmm, hmmmmm.

if you need to take a break from movies, please do. before coming back. i hear you're getting married, congratulations. if your husband allows you to return to acting, i expect to see the fire and spark back in your performances.
