I bought a Mag yesterday, while reading through, I saw a list of nominees and winners of the REEL award 2003. In it the best movie of the year is The Return, the best director of the year is Kingsley Ogoro, The Return. The best actor of the year is segun arinze for The Return. The best cinematography of the year is afun patrick for The Return, and more. With five awards already to The Return, I made up mind to get the movie and watch it as well and these are my observations.

The movie has a great deal of stars with short appearances. (now that's not a complain) The story is cool but terms to be that the movie was cut short of some sorts. The tail end of the movie gave no specific meaning to the begining. Effect wise, it is very OK. BUt a story good story without a good effects is better off than vice versa.
This is one problem Nigeria movies has encountered in the sense that some movies with good story line are been cut short. Is it that they don't know how to end this movies or they feel it will be too long if it ends.
Personally, i feel the director tried since they are all coming up. but I think it is not worth receiving an award as the best movie in nigeria. If it is then where can you place 'emotional crack'?

Think about this!

Am I the only one not feeling this emotional crack film? Infact, I don't think that was Steph Okereke's best performance. For me, it was Private Sin, but got to agree that Dakore deserved the best new comer award.

Well i don't think the movie deserve to win so many awards. They tried something different and it was just ok,that's about it.
