Hello my people in the UK, it's that time of the year again...
Royal African Society's Annual Film Festival is here again and Kunle Afolayan's latest film 'October 1' has its UK Premiere at The Ritzy, Brixton. Nov 3 @ 18:30pm.

By your tickets ASAP as they are probably going to sell-out!

Buy direct - Ritzy PictureHouse

See you there!

He trail blazes and I commend him for that, even if his themes and their treatment go above the understanding of the average viewer. Scripting can be better done.

What can I say? I absolutely loved this film!! Is it flawless?.. Of course not, has niggles here and there! What I loved the most about this is it has real SOUL something that HOAYS lacked.... this to me was far, far more enjoyable than HOAYS even though HOAYS is 'technically' better.

This is EXACTLY what 'New' Nollywood should be doing and not those ridiculously stupid "Oh-look-how-white-and-posh-we-sound" rom-coms that every daft prat is doing.

I think the acting in HOAYS was way better too.

Yes the acting in HOYAS was much better but it is still a bit lifeless. Don't get me wrong I do like HOYAS but nowhere near as much as 'October 1'.
That is directorial limitation for you. Soul. You can't buy it or cultivate it. You either got it or not. I could say the same thing about Biyi's two novels...

Of course I agree. HOAYS lacked soul. I just wish more time was spent on really directing the actors in October 1. Plus the Waziri character wasn't interesting in anyway.
