Rubbish show!

Mtcheeeewwww!:devil I have wasted at least 2 hours every saturday night in the last few weeks watching this silly fixed show!!! Nonsense!:1087:

After saturday's show and Bev going home...kapish! Thats it from me! Its sad but i cant believe what happened there....How can one of the best be voted off? Sharon Osbourne disappointed me big time, i really thought she had a mind of her own!:box

Oh well...whoever is still watching should come here to tell us who goes out next week, and then the following week, and then the next.....we all know Rhydian is winning! But then again, after last saturday, who knows??Hope might just win.....even though only one girl is carrying the whole group! Nonsense and travesty! I honestly thought i was not vexed anymore until this point! Absolute rubbish!!!:devil

I rest my case! Hopefully next year will be better.....

i hve said it before n i say it again, this years X-FACTOR stinks of cow dung and none of the contestants have anything X in them.even if rydian wins,i still think he is weird and looks like a misplaced agbero!..hsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.

I dont think the show is fixed at all.
Lets get real.
Give me ONE GOOD REASON why the show should be fixed. There are far too many entities with far too much to lose if they are found out - which inevitably happens. From ITV itself to the independent auditing firm to the XFactor Franchise to sponsors Carphone Warehouse to Simon Cowell.
What makes it worth the risk of being found out considering the tens of millions the show is guaranteed to generate, whoever wins?
Just gimme ONE VALID REASON somebody!smokin:

What you whingers should do is pick up your phones en mass and VOTE. We black people are known for sitting on our asses and then complaining when our 'guy' is kicked out! How many of una vote for Beverly last week? Meanwhile you can be sure that the whole of Scotland is voting for Leon, and the whole of Wales is voting for Rhydian. 'Girlpower' is probably just about keeping Hope alive and the person keeping Same Difference alive is their greatest critic, Louie. The more he yabs them, the more the public defies him. So make una dey complain there.
Abegi!!

Of course the show is not fixed. Fixed for who? Those mediocre singers bar Rhydian? On second thought maybe they had better 'fix' it cos this year has been absolutely dire!! All average singers in my opinion apart from Rhydian. (Though, even I admit he wasn't at his best last night. Thank God for that second song. It restored him)

I wasn't too sad that Beverley left last week. The girl was/is average jo. I mean compared to the "divas" we've had in the past. Rowetta, Brenda, Maria Lawson, even Dionne were all better singers than her. Bev is a good singer but not great great IMO. All well and good for people who think she is, I just don't.

Right, Rhydian, I don't want him to win the competition anymore and not because I think he can't. We all know that he isn't going to make it in mainstream pop music scene for obvious reasons. So maybe it's better for Leon to win. (But, I would cut out the dancing if I were Leon. Total cringe-worthy and embarrassing!)

Anyway, back to Rhydian, I predict that he is going to be a big star in the Classical/Opera world. I can picture him singing to the royal family and all those posh, plum-in-their-mouth high class people who are normally into theatres and operas. Oh, yes, our Rhydian is going to be a big star, he already is in a way.

While I am not an Opera person per ser, I do have one or two Classical/opera albums in my CD collection. I do like Andrea Botticelli, The Three Tenors - Pavarotti et al, Katherine Jenkins, Enya etc. The second song Ryhdian sang yesterday, 'I Vow To Thee My Country' is actually one of my favorite classical songs. I first fell in love with it when it was sung at Princess Diana's wedding, It was her fave too from what I read then. It was also sung at her funeral. The song is also THE ultimate Rugby Union song at world events.

Rhydian's version of 'I Vow To Thee My Country', as performed by him last night.
YouTube - X Factor 4, ep 17, Rhydian (itv.com/xfactor)

My Favourite Rhydian performance and his best in the competition in my opinion.

Tiron, great post. Its almost as if I wrote it myself. I agree with all you've said, apart from the last bit. My favourite 'Rhydian Moment' was when he sang 'U Lift Me Up' a few weeks ago: YouTube - X Factor 4, ep 14, Rhydian (itv.com/xfactor) . The 'Phantom Of The Opera' rendition is a close second. (By the way, since this is a film forum, I recommend people go and buy the DVD of the film 'Phantom Of The Opera'. U wont regret it, I assure you.)

I might also disagree with your point that he mightn't make it in the pop world. 'Pop' music is a stubbornly controversial term, and we can define it only loosely, at best. I truly believe that Pavaroti took Opera to a whole new level and a whole new audience, and many have argued, that he actually 'popularized' it in a 'pop' sense.

I believe Rhydian can do the same. Music has no rules and its categorization is ever changing, evolving by the second. Can anyone believe that 'Rap' and even hiphop were oncce highly specialised genres that were believed to be just a fad that would quickly die off?
I'm not a follower of Opera, but I must say, this Rhydian guy has made me appreciate it far, far more than I ever would have. Sometimes it takes someone special to put a new face to old music and bang! Everyone is in on it, like the penny has suddenly dropped.

Closer to home, it took Infinity's 'Olori Oko' and 'Aiye O Le' for me to suddenly appreciate my own indigenous music much more, and how, if re-interpreted, could suddenly reveal itself to be so beautiful rythmically, musically and lyrically.
We all need to remember that music is dynamic and no one genre, no one generation has a monopoly on genius.

Henchey, Ditto your posts too. Great to banter with people who really know their stuff. Great analogy re Hip hop and Rap.

I had my youth in the 70s and very early 80s and what we had then were Soul/Disco. We did have SugarHill Band and their Rap hit which still remain evergreen today. But apart from that and some scattered few, Soul and Disco were the in-thing in my day. But, yea, look at Rap/Hip Hop now! Totally THE music of the current generation. (I enjoy and buy many of them too I must say!)

Re: Rhydian and my comment and about the possibility of him not making it in mainstream Pop world.Trust me, I absolutely want him to make it big in the Pop world. He is a talent. One I'm glad has been discovered in the UK.

But you know know the Pop music world and the MAIN buying public are mostly teenagers and they are so fickle with their feelings and their attention span is not too great. It's whoever is in vogue at the moment for them. Rhydian could make and sell a good Pop album in the short term and on the back of X Factor, but I think, long term, the aristocrats will be his most consistent loyal bulk-buying public. Note the words 'bulk-buying', 'consistent', 'long term' and 'loyal'. Crucial Key words I think.

Look at Pavarotti's Nessum Dorma, made world famous during the Football's World Cup and Olympics (can't remember exact years). 'Nessum Dorma' put Opera on the map. But who else apart from the Opera loving world is still buying Pavarotti today? It is on this basis that I based my initial assertion. But you points are analogies too are duly noted and you could be right. I hope you will be.

Whatever happens though, our boy Rhydian has become a star. Rightly and richly deserved too I say! RE, his you raise me up performance was good too. I think that song has been done to death by everybody. Maybe that's why it's not one of my favorite Rhydian performances. He still did it justice though, I give him that.

long story na him una dey preach.....abeg who left yesterday,i was too busy to watch it!
:):)
Na Hope o. Funny thing is, they didnt even cry. They wept so much for others that went out before them that by the time their number was up, they were dry.
Nxt week....I really cant say any more. But I suspect Nicki, tho I think it should be SD. But they have a whole generation of bubblegum chewers sticking behind them!

:bouncy@ the highlighted!

It was about time that Hope went home...I wish them all the best for the future though. They have potentials.

I have to agree with Uncle Tiron about Bev, she is good but she cant be compared with those ladies from previous years....no doubt. I was still sad she went though, but i guess if she didnt go last week, she'd have gone this week, so nothing spoil!sweat:

I can't believe Leon has grown to the point that he can now be seen in the finals with Rhydian?? Wow! He reminds me of Ray, but a shy version sha. Ray was oozing with so much confidence last year and his smile was charming too....I hope he gets to the finals sha.

Niki!! I dont know o. She comes across as too laid back to me, but maybe she's just a shy woman too...no doubt she has a lovely voice, i dont know if she has presence sha...that said though...Leona didnt have star presence too but will she win?? Only God knows!

Same Difference! Those people crack me up! I love them now and just want to hug them. They will be good for sig-song movies like sound of music and pantomimes, they are good entertainers. Will they win??Hmmm.....not if they are in the finals with Rhydian sha!

Rhydian! oh Rhydian! How i sooooo didnt like him from the auditions! And how he has managed to change my mind about him. He is great and though i am not an opera fan, i have to say, the guy na professional and you cannot fault him!

I wonder what it'd have been like if it was him and Leona in the finals last year instead of Ray, would he have won??:spiny:

I shall be watching my "celebrity takes 2" again next week at the same time they are showing x-factor and so please, if you watch, dont forget to bring feedbacks o, as i am not guaranteed to watch the repeats next week sunday either!sweat:

I wish Simon Cowell and the rest all the best for next year sha, this year's contestants were so not "IT" at all....:1087:

@ Peculiar. I am female. But lots of people on here think I am male. No probs though. It only makes the mystery deepen. :)

You will like this Peculiar as you are her fan. I had a nice chat with Beverley about two and half hours ago! Yes, Beverley from XFactor.

Now, this is going to reveal a lot about me. You see, Bev, Voices with Soul, Brenda and myself all live in the same town. (So now some UK NRs know which part of England I live!!)

I have met Voices with Soul several times well before they even went on XFactor. Brenda, I've met on one or two occasions. Won't say more than that on those two.

Beverley, I've never knowingly met before until this afternoon, though I have had and still have several dealings with the school she works by the nature of my job. She knew OF me and knew my name because of what I do. When I told her who I was and what I do, she recognised me instantly.

We live in a small town and everybody sort of knows everybody.

Anyway, Beverley was a delight actually. Very pleasant, very cheerful and even more beautiful in real life. Those TV footages didn't do her justice at all. I told her this and she burst out laughing.

I asked her if she would go back to teaching. She said and I quote, "eventually".

As we stood talking, people came up to her to talk to her and wish her well and so on. She was really pleasant to all and didn't put on any airs or graces at all. Very pleasant lady she was. Slimmer in real life as well.

You are welcome my dear grinning: And no problems re mistake of my gender at all. Bless you.

Re my screen name. I didn't really know it sounds masculine until several people here and on another site started mistaking me for a male because of it. And coupled with the fact that I absolutely love football and am always on sport threads maybe convinced people more of it as well. I must be the only extremely passionate female football enthusiast on NR!

The screen name is actually a combination of my real names minus the i.

Anyway, have a blessed evening. :)
