So now,....as I dey mind my own business jeje, na im one of my friends come call ask me dis question o. She says....

Do you realize that the real superstar Yoruba movie actresses are not really 100% Yoruba? Like Ireti Osayemi, Fathia Balogun, Doris Simon, Lola Alao, etc etc. What's even more intriguing is that the ladies are extremely fantastic at what they do. They speak the language with such rhyme & fluency better than a good ole Yoruba girl.

I personally think without these exceptionally talented ladies, the Yoruba movie industry will not be where it is today. Whad'ya think?

help: You know that is something you don't say. Just because you are unsuccessful in something doesn't mean every other person is also retarded in getting it right. Out of three major languages in Nigeria, Yoruba is the one that I noticed other race pick up most to add to their own.

Well, this is what we have been saying about the YM industry for ages. It doesn't matter who you are as long as you can speak the language and can act.

Contrary to your opinion, Yoruba movie industry is where is at today not because of the girls you mentioned above, but because of the movie crew and the management of the industry. Those ladies are good and are exceptional actors. The industry has always been blessed with good actors from its inception. Ladies like the Orishabunmis, Ireti, Lanre Hassan, Wunmi, Iya Rainbow, Lola Idije, just to mention a few, have immensely contributed to the growth of the industry- in fact, most of these ladies you mentioned above understudied them-. I haven't even mentioned the male actors o!

Notwithstanding, Doris Simeon, Fathia Balogun and other non-Yorubas have contributed their quotas and can raise up their hands as one of the icons of YMG.

In fairness, Dsampler was repeating what his(her)friend realized about the Yoruba actresses some of them not being Yoruba by birth.Nothing negative about what Dsampler wrote. In my followup I was pointing out that Like in English Movies once you speak the language and can act, thats should be it.

Progress report: Still can't speak the language. Still trying though. I got myself an English/Yoruba dictionary now.
